THE YENKO CAMARO WAS A MODIFIED CHEVROLET CAMARO AND WAS PREPARED BY YENKO CHEVROLET IN CANONSBURG PA UNDER THE COMMAND OF LEGENDARY DON YENKO. THERE WAS A NEED TO COMPETE WITH CARS SUCH AS THE BOSS 429 OR THE BARRACUDA'S 426 HEMI. FOR 1969 THE DEALERSHIP WORKED WITH CHEVROLET TO HAVE THE L-72 427 CI. 425 HORSEPOWER ENGINES INSTALLED ON THE FACTORY ASSEMBLY LINE USING A CENTRAL OFFICE PRODUCTION ORDER OR COPO. THE ORDERS ALSO INCLUDED THE 4.10 POSI HEAVY SUSPENTION AND LARGE RADIATOR. A TOTAL OF 201 CARS WERE SOLD IN 1969 AND 171 OF THEM (INCLUDING THIS ONE) WERE 4SPDS. YENKO ROUNDED OUT THE VISUAL PACKAGE WITH SPECIAL ALUMINUM WHEELS A COWL - INDUCTION HOOD SPECIAL YENKO 427 BADGES TWIN STRIPES DOWN THE FLANKS AND HOOD AND THE SYC (YENKO SUPER CAR) BADGE.
