Vehicle Description
1959 Ford Short Styleside 2WD Pickup Seems like many collectors
want the vintage shortbed pickups. This is an original shortbed
pickup and it has the smaller rear window not the wrap around.
Grille is very good and it has all the original badges and emblems
including all 4 original hubcaps. It started and ran when I first
got it, but it ran very rough due to some burned valves. That is
the reason for the heads being fully rebuilt Bought this at an
auction in Washington State. I just paid to have the heads rebuilt
and also hot tanked intake and cleaned carb. Have not started it
since heads rebuilt. Believe engine is original F series 292 Y
block V8 with 4 speed manual. Odometer shows between 7/8 so
assuming 81,608 miles, but have no idea whether original. Doubtful.
Because it came from Eastern Washington, I had to have a Vin
Inspection by the Idaho DMV. They discovered the cab vin did not
match the frame vin so the Idaho Title is branded for 3 years and
then the branding is removed from the title. It is a clean Idaho
Title not salvaged, just branded temporarily. The inspector assumes
that the original cab was damaged and was replaced with a similar
one. Overall the 59 is in quite good condition for being 61 years
old. The body has no major dents or dings. It has been repainted
multiple times. I see no rust in the rockers or at cap corners or
at the rear of the front and rear fenders, but it is in a tight
area to examine well. It does have a good tailgate that is in gray
primer, but not shown. Bed is in above average condition. Most old
farm truck beds were used and abused, but this one is good. It does
have rust on both the drivers side and on the passengers side floor
about the size of a hardball. These floors are pretty easy to fix
since it is just straight steel with no pattern. The cardboard
headliner is gone and the inner roof has rust. I can see where some
old bondo has cracked in a few areas on the body, but overall a
pretty straight old truck.
