About Chevrolet's C1 Corvette:
The beautiful design of the 1962 Corvette showcased a few new
firsts, and said goodbye to a few attributes that wouldn't return
to Corvettes until decades later, if at all! Chevrolet introduced
the powerful 327ci V8 this year and would stay around for the next
seven model years. Additional changes included the disappearance of
the exterior chrome trim highlighting the side cove area leaving
only color-matched paint and a single louver as the new accent.
This would be the final year for exposed front headlights, a solid
rear axle, an external rear trunk, and the availability of a power
top. Things were about to change for the next generation of
Corvette, which is why the 1962 model remains one of the most
coveted designs to have in collections around the world!

This particular example had traveled roughly 2,000 miles since the
2010 completion of a body-on restoration, being driven in Florida
on only fair-weather days, along with, continuously being garaged
when parked. The restoration included a full repaint completed in
top fashion by a GM dealership in Naples, Florida. There, the
vehicle also received a new convertible top, weather stripping, new
interior carpet, and several other small items to ensure it was a
high quality driver. In January of 2012, this model sold with
29,585 miles showing on the odometer and joined a new, lucky
collection right here in St. Louis.
After using his Corvette very sparingly for several years, the new
owner elected to have the bumpers, grill bars, eye brows all
re-chromed by St Louis Plating Inc., along with, having the
carburetor rebuilt by Bob Kunz, sent the original generator to
Broner Generator Service for a rebuild, and also had the Wonderbar
radio and original speaker rebuilt. In June 2016, he decided to
take this worthy example to the next level. It would go to
Yesterday's Chevrolets Inc. for a thorough reconditioning with NCRS
Top Flight expectations. The engine/transmission were removed to
begin a top level engine bay detailing.
The engine would be sent to Sellenriek Automotive & Machine Shop in
Ballwin, MO for a complete disassembly and rebuild. This included a
ground crankshaft that was clean/magnafluxed, updated with
chamfered oil holes for increased oil supply to the rods & mains,
then micro-polished. The heads were resurfaced and received a
complete valve job with new exhaust valves, all new valve seats,
guides, and springs. The block was bored, all parts hot tanked,
then new freeze plugs, cam bearing, main bearings, reconditioned
rods, resurfaced flywheel, and all new gaskets and seals would be
fitted. Following this gorgeous red Corvette returned to Yesterdays
Chevrolet for final installation and all fresh small components,
new wiring harness, new clutch kit, Delco-Remy ignition components,
proper GM hoses and clamps, new belt, etc. The interior received a
new dash pad, grab handle, and correct carpeting from Al Knock
Interiors, along with a re-chromed windshield frame and glass new
seal, door sill trim plates, along with, so much more! This
gorgeous classic would be finished in November 2016 with 29,727
miles on the odometer. All parts and service receipts will be
provided to the new owner upon sale, along with photos of the paint
work from 2010. Today, the odometer reads 31,952 miles.
