Little changed with Corvette for 1960 compared to the previous
year. Engineer Zora Arkus Duntov improved both ride and handling,
and with that included a larger diameter front anti-roll bar and a
revised rear suspension that featured an anti-roll bar for the
first time. The clutch housing was fabricated from aluminum,
cutting weight by 18 pounds. American Briggs Cunningham entered
three Corvettes in the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans. There, the car
driven by John Fitch and Bob Grossman, finished 8th overall. A
considerable achievement for a privately entered team without
factory support.
This 1960 Corvette is finsihed in the wonderful combination of
Roman Red with Ermine White side coves. A white soft-top and red
interior complete the look. The Corvette has covered 68,205 miles
from new and is best described as a two-owner car that has only
been restored as-needed over the years. It has benefitted from a
repaint years ago and more recently the interior received
reupholstered seats as well as new carpets. It features a clock and
Wonder Bar radio.
The car is powered by its original, matching-numbers 250 hp 283 cu.
in. V-8 fed by a Rochester fuel injection unit. It is one of just
100 Corvettes built that year with this powerplant. The engine is
paired to a four-speed manual transmission. The car sports Pirelli
tires mounted on color-matched steel wheels with factory wheel
covers. The Corvette has benefitted from a mechanical service,
which included rebuilding the suspension, brakes, as well as the
original fuel injection unit.To view this car and others currently
