For Sale: 1967 Ford Mustang in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

This vehicle has been consigned to Hemmings Online Auction. The auction ends on Thursday, April 23 at 6:00pm Eastern Time.

This awesome 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback Custom “Bullitt” is a tribute of the famous car driven by Steve McQueen in the movie “Bullitt”. Unlike many “Bullitt” tributes this car was originally Dark Moss Green with a black interior from the factory. It was completely restored to show quality throughout and is a blast to drive. Here’s your ticket, “You’re going to Hollywood”!

As the Marti Auto Works “Deluxe Mart Report” indicates this Mustang was built at the San Jose factory as a 1967 Ford Mustang 2-door Fastback with a 289-2V V-8 engine.  It was Dark Moss Green with Black vinyl standard bucket seats. It had a 3-speed manual transmission and 2.79 conventional rear axle. It was equipped with the following features: White paint stripes, tinted glass, F70-14 Wide Oval white sidewall nylon tires, electric clock and AM radio. It was scheduled for build on December 7th, 1966 but was actually built on December 1st, 1966. Oklahoma City was the DSO (District Sales Office). It was retailed at Geo Walker Ford, INC located in Des Moines, IA. It retains the original VIN stamp on the driver’s side top of inner fender. The Marti Auto Works “Deluxe Marti Report” is included.

The last owner has known about this Mustang for almost 30 years. He actually owned it three times during this time frame. The first two times he owned the car it was in need of a restoration and was part of some trade deals. During his first time of ownership he traded the car for another car. A few years later he traded it back for a car he had owned. During his second time of ownership he traded to a gentleman who was the parts manager for a new car dealership named Star Ford. This transaction took place in 2005. This gentleman performed a complete rotisserie nut and bolt restoration. During the restoration some of the sheet metal was replaced with Ford original sheet metal including the front fenders, rear quarters and floors. During the restoration everything was restored or replaced. The restoration was completed in 2008. In 2012, he purchased the car from the gentleman who restored it. This was now the third time he owned it. Over the last eight years he’s enjoyed taking it to car shows with his family and friends. Since the restoration was completed it’s only been driven 2,888 miles. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car from the last owner.

The exterior of this Mustang is in absolutely beautiful condition. The classic styling is so recognizable specially being a “Bullitt” tribute. The body is very straight and it has great gaps throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid function very nicely. The directional lights in the hood are in working order. The body was finished in its original color of Dark Moss Green paint which is Ford #2039-A. The paint job is beautiful and ocean deep. It has recently been detailed to a show quality shine. The front Ford Car-Lite windshield is new. The side glass and rear glass is original Ford Car-Lite which still looks very nice. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the window trim, dual chrome mirrors, antenna, wipers, door handles, front bumper, wheel molding trim, lower body molding, trunk lid molding, taillight bezels, gas cap, rear bumper and emblems. The car has a great stance on 15” American Racing torque thrust style wheels that have a gray center and brushed lip. The wheels are wrapped with new Sumitomo HTR tires that are 215-60-15. This is a great looking American Muscle Car!
The interior of this Mustang is also in absolutely beautiful condition. It was restored in the original black color trim. The “Bullitt” was Green with black interior. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the headliner, sun visors, dash pad, dash, dash hardware, gauges, steering wheel, door sills, door panels, door hardware, bucket seats, seat belts, carpeting, shifter, pedals, rear panels and rear seats. The rear seat folds flat for extra space. Some custom interior features include a newer style steering column, blue dash gauge lights, Autometer RPM gauge and “Bullitt” carpeted floor mats. It has a custom center console with cup holders and storage compartment. It also has modern Mustang radio with Kenwood speakers located in the kicker panels. Everything in the interior is in working condition with exception of the horn because of the later model steering column. When you’re sitting in the interior of this car it feels like your sitting in a new car back in 1967!

The trunk compartment was completely restored throughout. The rear seat is accessible through the trunk compartment. It’s equipped with a full size steel wheel and tire. It also has a factory style trunk mat and spare wheel cover.
The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many tasteful upgrades. The cowl area and inner fender rails are in excellent condition unlike many other Mustangs from this generation. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were painted black. The car is powered by a rebuilt 302 V8 that runs excellent. This engine was originally in a 1993 Mustang “Fox Body”. It was completely rebuilt with a stock bore, stock pistons and roller cam. The engine was completely balanced after it was rebuilt. It’s been dressed to appear like an original 289 with an Edlebrock Performer 289 Intake, Cobra 289 valve covers and chrome air cleaner with a 289 decal. It has a Holly Street Avenger carburetor, Ford Autolite wires and Ford Autocraft battery. The engine is cooled with a new factory style radiator with fan. It breathes through Hi-Po exhaust manifolds and a 2 ½ exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers with chrome dual tips. The engine is coupled to a new T-5 5-speed  manual transmission with overdrive. This transmission was purchased new and was delivered in a crate. It’s equipped with a vintage T handle shifter and shift knob for the nostalgic look. The power is transferred to the rebuilt Ford 8” open rear end with 3.25 gears.

The undercarriage of this car is also highly detailed throughout. It is definitely nice enough to put mirrors underneath at a car show. During the restoration the floors were painted with the factory correct red oxide paint which was lighted covered with the green body color overspray. Everything underneath was restored or replaced. It’s equipped with power steering and all new components. It’s equipped with a new power braking system including front wheel disc brakes. It’s also equipped with all new suspension including KYB shocks.

This is a great opportunity to own you’re very own “Bullitt” tribute car for a fraction of the price of what the real car just sold for. When you’re behind the wheel you can imagine your Steve McQueen driving the wheels off this car!
A new Greenlight Collectibles 1:18 scale 1968 Ford Mustang GT – Steve McQueen Bullitt car with 1:18 Steve McQueen figure is included.
