For Sale: 1994 Panoz Roadster in Lebanon, Missouri

Vehicle Description

One of only 44 ever manufactured!  Very low miles since new!  Do not miss this opportunity!

In 1988, Dan Panoz was employed at Thompson Motor Company, an Irish manufacturer of sports cars.  When that company failed, Panoz secured the rights to a frame designed by renowned designer Frank Costin who had designed chassis for sports car makers Maserati, Lotus and Lister and soon the Panoz Auto Development Company was born.

Headquartered in a suburb of Atlanta, Panoz set out to deliver a truly American sports car experience by drawing on the family’s Irish and Italian heritage to bring in a European flair..  The Panoz Roadster was, in many ways, ahead of its time in the auto industry.  Produced from 1992 to 1995 in very limited quantities, the car emulated a “retro” look several years before the Big Three automakers introduced models like the Plymouth Prowler, the Chevrolet SSR and Ford’s revival of the two-seat Thunderbird.

Panoz created the car around the frame design purchased from Thompson, which was TIG-welded from stainless steel.  The body design was simple and sleek, yet also gave a hint of both luxury and a sense of speed.  Power was derived from the tried and true Ford 5.0L fuel-injected engine backed by Borg-Warner’s trusted T-5 manual transmission.  Several other components such as brakes were also stock Ford off-the-shelf items.  With a curb weight of 2,570 pounds, the two-seat roadster was fast and powerful.  While many companies previously attempted to make the light weight-high power model work with limited success, the engineering and development work undertaken by the company hot on the right combination.  The Panoz turned in a 0-60 MPH time of 5.3 seconds and traveled the quarter mile in 13.9 seconds.

During the production run of the Panoz Roadster, a total of 44 vehicles were manufactured.  In 1996 the company introduced the Panoz AIV Roadster, the first aluminum intensive vehicle (AIV) built in the United States.  The company has continued to produce a variety of basically hand-made sports car designs for nearly 30 years, combining performance, styling and luxury.

Evergreen Digital Showroom offers this 1994 Panoz Roadster for sale.  This is documented to be the second of six 1994 models sold to the public and one of the 44 ever manufactured.   The Panoz is finished in Ford Emerald Green with a tan leather interior.  As with all all of the Panoz Roadsters, power comes from a fuel injected Ford Mustang GT 5.0L engine backed by a Borg-Warner T-5 manual transmission.  The odometer indicates the car has been driven just over 6,100 miles since new.  This is without a doubt one of the lowest mileage examples of this vehicle available.  This car has been in the portfolio of the present collector/investor for five years.

Offered at $52,500 USD, this would make a great car for any person seeking to invest in very rare, low-mileage sports cars.  Evergreen Digital Showroom can assist with transportation and delivery at buyer’s expense.  To discuss this exceptional example of a first-generation Panoz Roadster, call sales manager Steve Russell at 417-532-8000.

NOTICE

Because of the number of vehicles we represent we cannot drive every vehicle for long distances.  These vehicles have been part of static displays for long periods of time, in some cases for decades, and are subject to the flaws and imperfections consistent with that.  While we do our best to disclose all issues we known about a vehicle in our advertising, these are old cars and something that has always worked in the past might not function properly today.  Please check the requirements of your state regarding the licensing and registration of classic vehicles and make sure the vehicle you are looking at meets those if applicable.  Unless otherwise noted, all vehicles represented by Evergreen Digital Showroom possess a clean (non-branded) title which will be provided the new buyer when purchase funds clear our financial institution.  Virtually all our vehicles are sold as mileage exempt due to their age.  We do not warranty any vehicle, nor any part of the vehicle including air conditioning systems, brake systems, electrical systems and gauges, fuel systems, accessories or powertrain components.

These are old vehicles and it is very common for them to require certain maintenance and upkeep for them to be operational.  In many cases issues with leaks may develop when being driven after a long period of not being used.  This is common, as classic cars at some point will leak fluids.  For this reason, we do not encourage buyers to attempt driving their purchase home as we cannot guarantee functional reliability of these vehicles.  We strongly encourage prospective buyers to be sure they are comfortable with these issues before purchasing a classic car.

Descriptions of vehicles represented by Evergreen Digital Showroom are intended to be informational in nature and do not in any way constitute any sort of warranty, expressed or implied.   Again, these vehicles are presented “as-is, where-is” without guarantee or warranty.  Vehicles manufactured prior to 1981 will likely not be included in the databases of companies such as CarFax and AutoCheck that provide vehicle history information to consumers.   If you have specific questions regarding a vehicle we urge you to contact us at 417-532-8000.
