Vehicle Description
In late 1962 Chevrolet chief engineer Zora Arkus Duntov set out to
build a production run of 125 purpose built Corvette racecars with
the ultimate goal of winning the GT class at the 24 Hours of
LeMans. Inside Duntov's shop, the project was known as the
LightWeight. As they neared completion, Chevrolet marketing
christened the cars Grand Sports. After a pilot run of five cars,
GM brass cancelled the project and ordered the cars destroyed.
Zora put away the first two cars, and sent serial #'s 003, 004 &
005 to John Mecom of Houston, Texas. John sold the three cars to
Texans Alan Sevadjian, Delmo Johnson, and Jim Hall respectively.
Now, Superformance has been graced with a License from GM to
continue building these incerdible Corvettes.
CGS0017 is painted High Gloss Jet Black. 17" Front and 18" Pin
Drive Aluminum Halibrand Style Wheels with R Compound Tires. The
engine is an LT-4 pounding out over 650HP. The Drivetrain is
finished with a Tremec T-56 Magnum 6 Speed Manual leading to a
period style C-2 Locking Diff with period correct Grand Sport
case.
This Grand Sport is finished with all of touring features:
Leather Interior, High Back Seats, Power Windows, Air Conditioning,
Power Steering, and Full Carpet. This Grand Sport also features a
custom sound system with Pioneer head unit.
CGS0017 is registered under the coveted CA SB100 Smog Exemption has
590 miles and is available for $179,950.
