Very nice and original 1-owner 1982 Citroën 2CV6 Charleston for sale with just 23,700 original miles (38,206 KM).
This Charleston was purchased new in England then shipped to their Canada home in 2010. It is now located and will ship from the Sonoma, California wine country.
The last generation of the Citroën 2CV was built between 1981-1990. The Charleston, presented in 1980 as a one-season "special edition" was incorporated into the regular range in July 1981 in response to its "extraordinary success". By changing the carburetor to achieve 29 hp, a top speed of 115 km/h (71 mph) was achieved. Other changes were a new rear-view mirror and inboard disc brakes at the front wheels.
The 2-cylinder boxer air-cooled OHV 602cc engine starts and runs smoothly. It has 2 valves per cylinder, bore and stroke at 74.0 x 70.0mm and a compression ratio of 8.5:1. It produces 29 hp at 5,750 revs/min with 29ft/Lbs torque at 3500. The synchromesh 4-speed transmission shifts well, a new clutch was installed approximately 4,500 miles ago along with a $2500 service that included new brakes (front disc), master cylinder, new 125 SR15 tires, shocks, tune-up, and government-approved seat belts. All in all, this is a reliable, strong and great driving 2CV.
The exterior is complete and straight. The original, patina'd maroon & black paint still shines though the decals have faded. The top is still in good condition opening and closing with ease. Under the car, there is no rust and the galvanized chassis is in good condition. The interior is in good shape as well, has little wear and is very comfortable with a nice dash, all working gauges, and switches. Seatbelts are installed.
From our research, it looks that this car cannot be registered in California because it does not comply with our strict smog laws that apply to vehicles 1976 and newer. Otherwise, most other US states have the 25 years old rule for classic cars. Please check with your state to be sure.
