As the original VIN tag and Deluxe Marti Report indicate this 1976 Ford U-100 Bronco 4x4 4600 lb. GVW Wagon was built in Michigan on May 17th, 1976. It was originally Hatteras Green Metallic with Parchment knit vinyl bucket seats. It had a 302-2V V8 engine, automatic transmission and 3.50 limited slip rear axle with power steering. It also had White tape stripes, skid plates, G78x15B White sidewall mud/snow tires, swing-away spare tire carrier, left hand remote control mirror, power brakes, Bronco décor group, AM radio, right hand passenger seat, rear seat, padded dash, free running front hubs and auxiliary fuel tank.
First generation Ford Broncos were produced from 1966-1977. They were prone to rust issues. This 1976 Ford Bronco was rusty and needed major sheet metal repair. Prior to the build it made sense to replace the entire tub. A new Terra Comp fiberglass tub, fenders and cowl induction hood were ordered and used to replace the original body. The Bronco Tub has ¼” steel reinforced tailgate opening and ¼” steel reinforced Hinges & Latch areas. It comes complete with firewall, floor pan & inner fender panels. The complete Floor Pan is detailed like the factory original. Under floor braces are all applied in the same manner as the steel body. Solid filled for Body mounting. All Panel work is completed to simulate the original steel body and shows seams in the body work. The Windshield Cowl is fully molded in with steel reinforcement for piano hinge 1/8” plate. Enlarged Fender wells to accommodate for larger tires. Floor pan indentations and body seams to simulate the original body. Door Posts are steel reinforced with ¼” plate along with the Striker post location. The Bronco flared fiberglass fenders are a duplicate of the original Ford Bronco. The Bronco cowl induction fiberglass hood tapers to 3 ¼ inches at the rear and the air vent is molded shut. It has a new metal clip which includes the inner fenders and radiator support. It has 1968 Ford Bronco metal doors with removed window frames. The Terra Comp body and panels have multiple advantages. One advantage is the body weighs much less. Another advantage is there’s no chance of bad body work or future rust issues. The comparison would comparable to a Chevrolet Corvette. This Bronco retains the original VIN tag which is located in the factory location behind the glovebox door. It also retains a partial VIN number on the original frame. It has a clean North Carolina title and is titled as a 1976 Ford with matching VIN number.

This engine was built for NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon’s father-in-law but no documentation is included to support this claim. When the engine was rebuilt and dyno tested it was wrapped on an engine stand until it went into this Bronco. The engine was built with high performance internals and has Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads. The engine is dressed with a new Edelbrock AVS2 4-barrell carburetor, Ford Racing air cleaner, Bronco engraved valve covers, MSD electronic ignition and Ford Racing red wires. It’s also equipped with red horns and a new Optima red top battery. The engine is cooled by an aluminum radiator with a billet over fill canister.
