Vehicle Description
This classic beauty in 2010 won its class at the Cadillac LaSalle
Club Grand National in Las Vegas - the largest CSC event of every
year. We just cut by $5700 below theprofessional appraisal of
$45600. For the last 10 years this car has been shown at the
Ironstone Concours at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys CA with many
honorable mentions. This excellent-condition classic car has always
been in a dry climate and garaged under a car cover. Originally
from Texas and then Brentwood California it was purchased in 2006
and has been meticulously maintained by a multi-car collector
family here in Groveland CA - "Gateway to Yosemite". The current
owner added power steering (which can easily be returned to
original) and wire wheels (the original wheels hubcaps and tires
come with the car). The only major flaw to this car is a thumb size
paint chip on the right front fender. In 1941 Cadillac replaced the
outgoingSeries 61 with the Series 62; its main draw was two-door
cabriolet among four major body styles. It was one of the most
elegant automobiles to ever roll off a GM assembly line. The Series
62 featured a low sleek "torpedo" style C-body with chrome window
reveals more slant in the windshield and a curved rear window. The
new C-body featured shoulder and hip room that was over 5 inches
wider the elimination of running boards and exterior styling that
was streamlined and 2-3 inches lower. When combined with a column
mounted shift lever the cars offered true six passenger comfort -
even today it is a great touring car.Cadillac's sole soft top was
usually in the 62 Series. Such was the case in 1941 when this
handsome model was manufactured. Equipped with a vacuum-powered
convertible top it was available only as a Deluxe model which
included rear fender skirts wheel trim and other decor items. All
Series 62 cars were powered by Cadillac's L-head 346ci V8 which was
capable of 150 hp. Sales totaled 5903 in its inaugural year
accounting for about 45% of Cadillac's sales.Pre-War Cadillac
convertibles will always be a true collector car. Halted by the
wartime efforts the Series 62 halted production in 1942 and began
producing cars again in early October of 1945.With the very
reliable Cadillac V8 engine and synchro manual 3-speed transmission
this classic runs and drives exceptionally well. Chrome and
brightwork are done to a high degree and set this one apart from
many collector cars. The wide whitewall tires Cadillac Kelsey Hayes
chrome wire wheels Coker Classic wide white wall tires and fender
skirts (not perfect but no dents) complete the finishing touches on
this classic beauty. All instruments and dash are in excellent
condition and factory radio and clock are also present.Inside the
convertible cabin is a comfortable road-trip worthy interior.
Owners report that road trips of 300-400 miles are easily
achievable. The '41 Caddys are capable of a genuine 100 mph top
speed with 0-60 MPH time in about 14 seconds. That's as good or
better than many of the Cadillacs of the 1980s sad to say. The 1941
Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupes were so successful that these
cars remain some of the most sought-after collectibles of the late
pre-war era. And as legitimate CCCA Full Classics they are welcome
at every big event and caravan where their superlative road manners
and comfortable interiors make them a favorite for folks who like
to drive their machinery. This is a great classic convertible at a
