Vehicle Description
Loaded, capable, and absolutely cool, this two-owner 1988 Ford
Bronco XLT is the full-size SUV that has everything you want,
including fuel-injected V8 power, an overdrive transmission, and a
custom look of distinction.
The factory-correct Colonial White not only looks like the original
application, but also it makes for an ideal backdrop for the custom
burgundy stipe package. The artful design of the triple-stripe on
the hood and the wedge-shaped ones running the sides make for the
distinct package that came on the best custom trucks back in the
day. Plus, the details are nice, like the burgundy strip
surrounding the rear window and the full-length running boards. So
you know this one was the showpiece of the car lot... if it ever
even stayed long enough at the dealer before being grabbed by a
caring owner. In fact, this is a two-owner machine, and so it has
been under the same watchful eye for over three decades. That's why
this premium Bronco XLT remains crisp, clean, and complete.
Inside, Ford's upscale XLT interior features a comfortable red
velour on the seats. In fact, you have a high-back bucket that's
long haul comfortable thanks to the fold-down armrest. And the wide
center console offers plenty of storage as well as a handy place to
put your coffee. You have plenty more great features like power
windows (including the rear one,) power locks, the factory
AM/FM/cassette stereo, and provisions for R134a air conditioning.
The nicely appointed back seat means plenty of space for friends
and family, and the huge cargo area behind it provides a place for
everyone's gear. So this was built for adventures. That's why you
have a fold-down tailgate that's ideal for sitting on while
roasting campsite marshmallows. And don't forget that the rear roof
section does remove if you want to get closer to nature (although
this example looks like no one has tried that yet.)
Under the hood is a 5.0-liter V8. This is an awesome powerhouse for
Fords that only gets better on a more modern classic like this
because it has the advantage of fuel-injection. So you get the
hardy construction you love, and it has a more consistent delivery
that's great for everyday life. This was the era that the F-150s
and Broncos really solidified their reputation as a great truck for
all uses. That's because you also have handy features like a
four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive
and provisions for four-wheel drive. Plus, with power steering,
power brakes with discs up front, and cruise control, it's quite a
comfortable cruiser for anytime use.
Complete with owner's manual, this Bronco has passed into full
30-year-old classic status, and now it's time for its third owner.
