Excitement was growing in the spring of 1977. The Chevrolet Corvette was going to be 25 years old and to celebrate Chevrolet was offering a Special Edition 25th Anniversary model for 1978. Dominic Giardino Jr. went to Greve Daum Chevrolet in Northfield Ohio and sat down with Salesman Bob Wolfe and ordered his NEW 1978 Corvette 25th Anniversary Edition. The order sheet went as follows :B22 Special Anniversary Paint. C60 Air Conditioning. C49 Rear Window Defogger. D35 Sport Mirrors. UM2 AM/FM Stereo with 8 track tape. K30 Speed Cruise. N37 Tilt Wheel. QGB White Letter Tires. MM4 4-Speed Transmission. YJ8 Aluminum Wheels. A31 Power Windows. ABB2 Black Leather Interior. The order was placed and came to the grand total of $11,894.94. Dominic put a $100 Cash deposit on his new car and patiently waited, Finally almost six months later Dominic took delivery on March 20, 1978. Upon arriving at Greve Daum, Dominic learned Chevrolet would reimburse him $76.23 because they would not assemble the car with cruise control and a 4-speed Transmission. Greve Daum kept the car for an extra week and had the Service Dept. install Cruise Control. Dominic Cherished his new Corvette and drove it sparingly and only added 3,500 miles the first few years and then tucked the car into the corner of his 2 1/2 car garage, covered it up and never drove it again. Rally Sport Classics bought the Low mileage car from Dominic's estate this past January. We ran the car through our shop going through the brake and fuel system and installed a new battery. The original Delco Freedom Battery was still in the car and remains. We gave the car a good clean and detail on the exterior and interior and lightly cleaned the engine compartment, The car still retains it's original Belts and hoses. Goodyear Polysteel radial Tires and assembly line grease pencil marks. The car was stored very well and looks like it did on that March day in 1978 when delivered, Everything on this car functions as it should and runs like an absolute dream, Dominic saved EVERYTHING and this car has it all with paperwork and documentation that would include the original order sheet from Greve Daum Chevrolet, The receipt for the $100 cash deposit. The receipt for the balance due. Two copies of the cashiers checks to finish purchase. Reimbursement remittance check receipt for thr cruise control.
