Lamborghini introduced the Jalpa P350in 1981, similar to the
Silhouette, the Jalpa featured a more powerful 255 HP, DOHC, 3.5L
V-8 engine, more aggressive styling and the Targa top. In 1984,
subtle styling changes created a more modern look for Jalpa, which
lasted until production ended in 1988. Only 410 Jalpas were ever
constructed, far fewer than the Countach, and a much more useable
exotic to drive.
From loving single ownership of 32 years.
This U.S. Specification example was completed in December 1987 and
sold as a demo in October 1988 by Mark LaPrade's Maserati/Lotus to
its first and only registered owner, Mr. Gaston of Starkville,
Mississippi. The original MSRP of $69,850.00 was superseded by a
supplemental dealer sticker of $75,345.00 ($164,000 in 2020
dollars). The extras were a Premium AM/FM Stereo $1,995.00 and
"Market Adjustment" of $3,500.00. Finished in Siviglia Red and
Champagne leather interior with contrasting piping. Gold
Tecnomagnesio phone dial wheels, on Pirelli P7 tires. This
magnificent Jalpa remains remarkably original and unrestored to
this day. Interestingly post-delivery Mr. Gaston requested a
factory rear spoiler be sent to him unpainted, this original wing
remains with the car today.
Benefiting from single private lifelong ownership the Jalpa comes
complete with its original Window Sticker, Odometer Statement,
Original Invoice, Owner's Manual, Warranty & Maintenance Booklet,
Alpine Radio Instructions and Warranty Card. Additionally, its
original jack and wrench stow neatly in the emergency bag,
including the tool roll, spare belts and fuse/bulb kit. The
original O.Z space saver spare tire resides up front. The
Lamborghini retains original decals, paint sticker, "381" Bertone
body number stampings, glass, and Alpine radio. Displaying an
attractive original look and feel the engine compartment and
underside which have been nicely detailed retain much of the
original factory applied cosmoline and hardware.
The L353 3.5L, 255 HP DOHC V-8 engine has compression of 165-170
PSI throughout all cylinders and is backed by the synchromesh
5-speed manual which shifts nicely while cold and warm. The front
end has just recently received new koint shocks, as well as a brake
service. These fantastic, hand-built machines are finally gaining
traction in the collector car world with ease of drivability
coupled with visual representation from the pinnacle of 1980's
design and flamboyance. A true icon of the 80's this remarkable
Jalpa 3.5L will make a great addition to any serious collection or
will be the perfect first collector car.
