This gorgeous second generation 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Custom AKA: “The Root Beer Float” is simply stunning.  It has been completely restored to show quality standards throughout and is loaded with custom features.
As the original VIN number and Trim Tag indicate this car was built at the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant on the 3rd week of July as a 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. The exterior was Dark Brown with White stripes and it had a Saddle vinyl interior. Prior to the restoration this car was keep in a garage in Idaho for many years. It was the perfect candidate for a restoration because it was rust free and a real Z28.

This car underwent a complete nut and bolt restoration that was completed in 2019. It only has test miles since completion. The body was stripped to bare metal and was professionally refinished. The car retains all the original sheet metal which is not common with second generation Camaros. The car sports a flat hood and the tall 3-piece rear spoiler. The body is very straight with great gap lines throughout. The exterior was painted in 2018 Toyota “Smoked Mesquite Brown” with White stripes which look absolutely gorgeous.  This color is somewhat similar to the original Dark Brown color but has a lot more pop. The paint has a lot of depth and is loaded with brilliant metallic flakes. The paint work is high quality and shines beautifully. The color and quality of the paint is truly the highlight of the car. The front windshield with was replaced new. The remaining glass is all original and in very nice condition with only minor scratches. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced such as the window trim, wipers, mirrors, front grille, front split bumpers, door handles, rear bumper, light bezels, lights and emblems. The car has an incredible stance on new Billet Specialties “Legend Series” polished wheels that are 18x8 on the front and 18x9 on the rear. The wheels are wrapped with brand new Sumitomo HTRZ2 tires that are 225/40/R18 on the front and 245/40R18 on the rear.. *Please note the car was pictured with different tires that were replaced because the front tires were too wide and caused slight rubbing when turning.

The entire interior was completed restored during the restoration. It was restored in the original color of Saddle but it was upgraded from vinyl to comfort weave. This was a Poi NOS comfort weave interior kit. The comfort weave upholstery looks and feels much nicer. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the rubber seals, headliner, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash pad, dash upper panel, dash lower panel, dash hardware, astro vents, heating control panel, tilt steering column, center console, door sill plates, door panels, door hardware, pedal pads, seats and carpeting. Some interior custom features include a Classic Dash bezel, Autometer Phantom White Face gauges, Billet Specialties “Formula Bronze” steering wheel, Hurst shifter with black shift knob, custom sound system and black carpeted mats with Z28 logo. The front and rear seat belts are original and in nice condition. Everything is in working order such as the dome light, dash lights, lights, turn signals, gauges, heat and sound system. The trunk compartment has been painted with the correct style trunk paint. *Please note there is no spare tire or jack tools.

The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout with many custom features. The backside of the hood was finished in satin black as was the firewall, inner fenders, fender braces and radiator support. It’s equipped with new “Ring Brothers” aluminum hood hinges which match the wheels and look amazing. The car is powered by a 383 Stroker V8 that has an estimated 400+ HP. This engine runs excellent and pulls hard. This GM 4-bolt main block was completely rebuilt with many high performance parts throughout. Some of these parts include an Edelbrock #7102 camshaft, Crower pistons and connecting rods, Trick Flow Twisted Wedge Aluminum Heads, Pro Push Rods, Summit Racing G6900 Roller Rockers, Cleveite 77 bearings, Fluidampner, Milodon oil pump, Steff aluminum oil pan and ARP fasteners.  The engine is outfitted with a new Holley HP 650 Double pumper carburetor, Holley fuel pump, Magna fuel pressure gauge, HEI distributor, Taylor wires w/ wire looms, Chevrolet black cast valve covers and Chevrolet black cast air cleaner. It’s equipped with a modern front runner pulley system. It has a new Interstate battery that was painted black. The engine is cooled by a new Derale aluminum with dual electric fans producing 3,700 CFM. It also has a Mishimoto black overfill canister. The engine breathes through Hooker Super Competition ceramic headers and a stainless Pypes Violator stainless exhaust system.  This engine and exhaust system combination sounds awesome! The engine is coupled to a Muncie 21 close ratio 4-speed transmission. This transmission was rebuilt and shifts through the gears nicely with the Hurst shifter. It’s equipped with a new clutch and Hays flywheel. The power is transferred to the factory 10-bolt POSI rear end. It has a new carrier, locker, axles and 4:11 gears. This driveline was built to pound the streets!

The undercarriage is also nicely detailed throughout with many custom features. The underside of body and sub frame was painted stain black. It’s equipped with Competition Engineering sub frame connectors for extra strength. It’s also equipped with Competition body mounts, motor mounts, transmission mounts, front sway bar and rear sway bar. It has KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. The all new front suspension and power steering components are by Moog. It’s equipped with a complete Classic Industries power four wheel disc brake kit. It has drilled and slotted rotors with red calipers. It also has a Wilwood proportioning valve, Earl brake hoses and internal parking brake.

This car is total eye candy with its striking color combination. This car separates itself from every other second generation Camaro. It was built to cruise but pound the pavement if desired. This is the one!
