Vehicle Description
1981 Cobra Replica Ron Butler Built,With phenomenal handling and a
manageable yet powerful Chevy 350 small block and turbo 350
automatic transmission, this Cobra is ideal for any driving
enthusiast. This is the perfect roadster for taking a drive up the
coast, along winding mountain roads, or simply cruising around
town. This was a barn find and has since been restored to original
condition. This Cobra replica was built in August 1981, number six
of 104 made. The builder of this car, Ron Butler was a chassis
mechanic for Carroll Shelby's racing team and later crew chief.
When he created his replica he put his racing skills into the
chassis, achieving a 50/50 weight distribution. Under the hood:
Built Chevy 350 small block, fresh head work and gaskets, new water
pump, hoses and misc. Turbo 350 automatic transmission, heavy duty
radiator and surge tank. New aluminum fuel tank and aircraft fuel
lines. Suspension and Brakes: MG front suspension with rack &
pinion, Koni shocks. Jaguar prostration IRS rear end with 4 Koni
adjustable coil-over shocks, inboard disc brakes and new master
brakes cylinder with stainless steel braided brake lines. Brand new
BF Goodrich tires on Hailbrand simulated Knochoffs wheels.
Coachwork: Sleek and durable hand-laminated fiberglass body, custom
fit & finished. In the cockpit: Black leather interior with black
automotive carpet. A full array of Stewart-Warner gauges in the
