The exterior on the car is beautifully redone and is finished in
Deep Raven Black. Paint is 25+ Years Old and still looks great with
no cracking or issues. It does have some very tiny touch ups on
rock chips up front but paint is above driver quality for its age.
The whole car was just treated to a $700+ Multistage Paint Color
Correction. The car is a color change from its original color of
code 973 Red, but from what the previous owner was told is that
black was not available in 1971 and the original owner had to have
a black Corvette and had it professionally done a few years after
buying it new. There is no red visible anywhere on the car and
entire car was disassembled for paint. All chrome is original
excellent dry desert condition. The body is arrow straight and all
body lines are correct and body seams present in fenders. The
undercarriage is in good condition and is un restored. The
underside is very clean and the frame and chassis is all original.
The emblems, chrome and interior appear to be in nice original
condition, and back up the idea that the mileage is original.
The interior is in nice original shape all around. The seats appear
to be original but might be too nice to have lasted this long so Im
not sure one way or another but they look great with no dryness or
ware. Both door panels, console, dash and carpet are very good
original condition. All gauges and switches are functional other
than the clock. The updated Am/Fm sounds great.
Mechanically, this little Stingray runs great. The 454ci V8 is a
very fast motor and this Vette FLYS and there are receipts for a
rebuilt 20+ years ago on engine but current owner only put about 8k
miles on this car during ownership! It is mated to a numbers
matching M20 Muncie 4-speed. The engine compartment was maintained
with attention to detail and is largely original with exception of
upgraded ignition system and missing the shielding for around
distributor. This car drives straight and true and is extremely
tight in the suspension. The rear end also appears to be either
rebuilt or replaced, as I did not look for ID numbers but can tell
it looks fresh. The brakes are also all new and in very good shape
and stop the car perfectly. This car needs nothing and is ready to
cruise on a sunny day or hot summer night.
All in all, this is one very clean and well-kept '71 Corvette. Take
a look at the price range many of these Sting Rays are selling mid
40K range. This is everything that those cars are without the huge
price tag. This car is a great example of a solid, well-preserved
car which has been meticulously maintained and can be enjoyed for
years to come. Corvettes are one of the most coveted and widely
collected vehicles on the market today, and with this Stingray you
