Vehicle Description
The 2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 is an instant classic. After all, with
a 500 hp V10 motor and extra creature comforts over the previous
generation roadster, this is the kind of machine that we're going
to want for generations to come. So it's great to find a
low-mileage factory triple-black example of this snake-bitten speed
machine.
Viper Black is one of the best colors around. After all, it gives
this one a mean as midnight look and the classic car market always
seems to gravitate towards factory black cars. It also helps to
have an example that looks this complete. Averaging less than 1,200
miles annually means this roadster was far from a daily driver.
This also means the body panels are excellent, which is exactly
what you want on one of the most striking designs ever. The
extra-long hood showcases the aggressive snake-eyes headlights,
heat extractors for the big motor, and a power bulge that ends in a
scoop with two venomous fangs on the side. The deeply scalloped
sides look awesome as they extend seamlessly from the fenders
through the doors. And the shapely rear hides some of the car's
best wind-cheating abilities. The only hint of brightwork this
machine has are on the large alloy wheels (18/19 inches
front/rear,) and it earns this flair because of the amount of wide
and grippy rubber it brings to the road.
The black convertible top looks nice, and when you take it down, it
reveals an even more impressive black leather-lined interior (the
paint, roof, and interior give you the ultra-desirable factory
triple-black.) This generation of Viper was more accommodating that
its predecessors. For example, the suede insert in the seats makes
it quite nice to hop inside even on sunny days. You also get a ton
of features, like power windows, power seats, power locks, keyless
entry, dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, a cup holder, power
steering, and a premium AM/FM/CD stereo system. Plus, the
cold-blowing factory air conditioning allows you to enjoy this
Viper with the top down even in the summer. But this more
accommodating Viper doesn't mean it lost its wild side. You
instantly know this is still a machine built around the driver the
moment you slip behind the grippy sports steering wheel. There's a
large speedo and tach directly in front, crisp white-faced
auxiliary gauges running up the center stack, and a gear stick
exactly where your right hand wants to be. So you know you want to
push the red start button and awaken this beast.
The 8.3-liter V10 is one of the most imposing motors around. It has
that extra-long look of power that we love on other exotics like a
Ferrari, but this also has its own distinct flair from the
twin-plenum intake and big red valve Viper covers. This is the
numbers-matching motor, and it starts up like a well-cared for
fuel-injected powerhouse should. The six-speed manual transmission
means you are in full control of the street-eating 500 horsepower
and the sweet soundtrack coming from the side exhaust. And because
this Viper comes with a fully independent sports suspension, beefy
limited slip rear end, and a large four-wheel disc brake package,
you really are in full control of this big power droptop.
