Vehicle Description
Here is an example of a rare, and iconic muscle car from the
1960's. This 1 family owned since new 1968 AMC AMX has always been
very well maintained and cared for. With this special AMX comes
with a copy of a letter written by the son of the gentleman that
special ordered this car, just the way he wanted it. Being a
factory "Go Pack Car", it comes with some nice performance upgrades
including upgraded cooling from the 4 core radiator, power front
disc brakes, and heavy-duty suspension with thicker sway-bars. Some
other upgrades that were special ordered with this particular AMX
is the 315 HP / 425 torque 390 CU IN V8 and the 4 speed manual
transmission. Form the factory the 390 medium block came with
forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, as well as larger rod
bearings. The performance produced was very respectful with a 0 to
60 time of 5.7 seconds, which could be reached in first gear. The
factory 54A code turbo silver metallic paint and chrome are in
excellent condition. The black vinyl interior is also in excellent
condition and features options like factory in dash tach, bucket
seats, and factory AM/FM radio. Dash number for this great AMX is
02517. The 1968 AMX was the first steel bodied, 2 seater American
performance car since the 1957 Ford Thunderbird. And having a 2"
shorter wheelbase, many considered it direct competition for the
Chevrolet Corvette. It is becoming very difficult to find 1 family
owned cars this special and well optioned, not to mention in this
condition. This great muscle car is turn key ready to show and
enjoy.
