Vehicle Description
What do you see when you dial up our website and check out this
polished Mustang? One of the coolest muscle cars ever produced? One
of the most in-demand classic cars on the market? An outrageous
pro-tourer that doubles as an athlete and a show queen? All the
above? First-generation Mustangs are some of the coolest and most
popular classics around, and the comfort and ability provided by
the pro-touring movement really puts the icing on the cake. This
national award-winning drop-top complements everything great about
legendary Detroit muscle with thoughtful customization and
incredible power!
SOPHISTICATED SIMPLICITY
A slick '60s bombshell that features an impressively straight body,
this tough Mustang benefitted from a six-figure rotisserie build
that was split between Maryville Tennessee's Prater's Auto
Restoration and Louisville Tennessee's Alloway's Hot Rod Shop.
After a full strip, the car stretched DuPont Hot Hues Volcanic
Blast 2-stage under power-operated cloth. And today, this Ford
rolls as one head-turning thoroughbred that's won major accolades
from many of America's largest car shows!
Judging by the list of shops included in our specs, pretty much
every piece of this one-of-a-kind classic has been professionally
finished. The car's timeless body kicks off with xenon headlights,
red-trimmed parking lamps and a custom-fitted bumper that, along
with a gorgeous GT grille, was plated and polished by the folks at
Memphis Tennessee's Dan's Custom Plating. Behind that grille, a
monochromatic Mach 1 hood flows to a filled and shaved cowl, which
front's clean glass and polished frames. Beneath that glass, a
fully shaved profile swings electronically popped doors in front of
massaged quarter scoops. At the back of the car, bold "MUSTANG"
lettering joins stylish GT stainless to frame LED taillights, a
requisite GT fuel cap and a second custom-fitted bumper that was
plated and polished by the folks at Memphis Tennessee's Dan's
Custom Plating. And that bumper reflects a massaged valance that's
fashioned around polished exhaust tips.
FORD RACING 460
Check this Mustang's custom engine compartment and you'll find 460
cubic inches of raucous Ford Racing power! At the top of the buff
engine, a polished air cleaner feeds a 750cfm Holley 4-barrel
that's wired with stainless fluid lines and a clean Marshall
pressure gauge. Beneath that juice box, a polished intake reflects
finned valve covers that float a polished Ford Racing breather
above Ford Racing Super Cobra Jet heads. At the front of those
covers, a reliable Motorcraft distributor sequences spark through
loomed Taylor plug wires. Custom Sanderson headers make quick work
of spent gases. Cooling comes courtesy of a dressed Steve Long
radiator, which cycles coolant between glossy tubes, an electric
fan and a polished water pump. A proven Billet Specialties Tru Trac
serpentine drive spins polished power steering between a polished
alternator and a polished AC compressor. First-rate detailing
includes braided hoses, polished reservoirs, ARP fasteners, a
custom oil pan and slick Ringbrothers hood supports. And all that
bling and bluster adds up to roughly 600 horsepower!
PUTTING THE PRO IN PRO-TOURER
Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find fully custom floors
that are restored to show. Behind the big 460, a tough hydraulic
clutch kicks a modern Tremec 5-speed, which spins a 9-inch Strange
axle that's packed with a Traction Lok differential and 3.50 gears.
That drivetrain pushes an Art Morrison 4-bar that's triangulated
around a polished sway bar, polished control arms and QA-1
coil-over-shocks. That clip is led by a Heidts Superide II
front-half, which centers power rack-and-pinion steering in front
of more polished control arms and more QA-1 coil-overs. At the
corners, 6 and 4-piston calipers clamp Wilwood drilled and slotted
rotors. 3-inch exhaust fills glasspack-style mufflers. Power meets
the pavement through Boyd Coddington Junkyard Dogs, which spin
205/50R17 Goodyear Eagle RS-As in front of 275/45R20 Goodyear Eagle
GTIIs. And naturally, first rate detailing includes stainless fluid
lines, a tubular driveshaft hoop and a custom fuel tank that flows
through an electronic pump.
STRUCTURED CUSTOMIZATION
Swing the doors and you'll find an impressive custom cockpit that
was installed by Steve Holcomb of Pro Auto Custom Interiors. Front
and center, plush leather Sport Buckets boast big bolsters. A
custom, leather-wrapped dash hangs billet-trimmed Classic
Instruments telemetry between Vintage Air conditioning and polished
foot pedals. Fresh Daytona Carpet floats a custom, full-length
console between quality Dynamat insulation and a canted Hurst
shifter. The driver spins a polished and half-wrapped steering
wheel, which laps a modern, tilting column. And fresh Painless
Wiring fuels custom-mounted speakers.
When it comes to maximizing the amount of metal your money buys,
you simply can't go wrong with a purpose-built pony car. Thanks to
its thorough restoration, this legendary Ford is a great driving
piece that's fun, historic AND reliable. If you're looking for a
stylish classic that commands respect on both the boulevard and the
show field, this red-hot Mustang is just your style!
