The 1964-1977 Chevelle was one of Chevrolets most successful
nameplates. The Chevelle was available as a hardtop, coupe or
convertible. The SS 396 was Chevrolets entry into the muscle car
battle.
This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS was originally delivered
with a 327 cubic inch motor and 4 speed transmission. During the
restoration approximately 14 years ago it was changed over to a 396
cubic inch motor with a three speed-automatic transmission. This
Chevelle was driven very little and then stored in a heated barn
for approximately 10 years. After being woken up and refreshed the
motor inherited a lower end knock. The experts we brought the car
to believe the noise is associated with wrist pin failure.
Please note this car will be sold in as is condition with the
current motor issue. The odometer and speedometer are also
currently inoperable.
This Chevelle is finished in its original color of Madeiras Maroon
with black interior. The paint on this Chevelle has great depth and
shine. It appears the car has its original body panels as well as
floor and trunk pan. The underside is exceptionally solid with no
signs of rot intrusion.
The black interior is in very good condition without any areas of
excessive wear and shows very well with the bucket seats and center
console.
It is rare today to find a True SS which is cosmetically in such
solid condition. The opportunities are endless for this Chevelle.
Convert it back to its original configuration of a 327 cubic inch
motor with 4 speed manual transmission, rebuild the current motor
or drop in a crate motor, these are just a few of the
possibilities.
