Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
The Chevelle was introduced in 1964 and was one of Chevrolets most
successful models until production ended in 1977. There were 3
generations with this beautiful 69 belonging to the 2nd. This
generation received a redesign and now incorporated the long nose,
short deck look that was becoming the popular appearance for the
muscle car era. This Chevelle is a true Super Sport and is a
beautiful example of one of these cars. It was extremely well built
and received a body off complete restoration. It comes with a
restoration book but it is clear just from looking at it that it
was built right. Identifying a true SS can be difficult during
these years for a Chevelle but luckily this car has its build sheet
so there is no doubting its SS status. It is painted in a nice
slick Red which pairs perfectly with the Black vinyl top. All of
the chrome is in excellent condition as is all of the original
stainless trim, emblems, etc. There really isn't a rough area
anywhere on the car. It rides on 15x7 Cragar wheels which suit cars
of this era perfectly but it also comes with the original 5 spoke
SS wheels and tires should you want it to have a more factory
look.
Being an SS makes the car very desirable but adding to that is the
fact that it is all numbers matching. The engine, transmission and
rear end are all original to the car. It gets power from its
factory 325hp 396 L35 V8 motor that was entirely rebuilt during the
restoration. The motor was built keeping it's stock appearance but
received a few upgrades during the process like the Hedman Headers,
an Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley 670 street avenger carb, a
slight cam and a MSD ignition system. Backing the engine is a 4
speed M20 transmission that shifts well and sends power brack to
the 12 bolt (3:55 geared) posi rear end. The car runs great and is
a great driver with power steering and power brakes. It has drums
in back and discs up front with braided lines throughout. A F41
stabilizer has been added in the back along with a front stabilizer
bar and Global West tubular upper and lower control arms.
The interior is done in all Black and has a nice stock look. In
fact the original AM radio was left in place to maintain that
appearance but an Alpine AM/FM/CD player with remote is hidden in
the glove box. All of the knobs, gauges and switches are working
correctly and look great. All of the upholstery is in great shape
throughout. It has bucket seats up front which sit to each side of
the factory ordered center console with Hurst shifter. The only
real modification on the inside was the addition of an Old Air AC
system. The trunk is nicely finished out also and has the factory
style mat and spare cover.
