You are looking at an automotive anomaly: quite possibly the only
American Muscle car ever produced where you actually want the
6-cylinder! Thats right, this beautiful 1987 Buick Grand National
with the 3.8 liter turbo V-6 motor is in unbelievably nice
condition and ready to be enjoyed. With complete original
documentation, service records, and a clean CARFAX, this Buick is
probably one of the cleanest around. True, this car is built on the
GM G-Body platform, but this is NOT the same car as the Oldsmobile
your grandma used to go to church and bingo! No, the Grand
National's Turbo V-6 put out 245hp and 355lb-ft of torque. This
subtly menacing car can do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, which is still a
respectable number by today's standard. More interesting though was
how the Grand National embarrassed the competition of the day,
putting up better numbers than the Corvette, Camaro, Firebird, and
Mustang. This particular Grand National was originally purchased at
Childress Buick in Phoenix, Arizona, and it has spent its entire
life in the area. And in a garage no less. Be sure to see the
photos showcasing the rust free body, frame and undercarriage. The
car comes with it's original dealer paperwork, sales receipts,
books, manuals and some service records. The current owner is
undoubtedly a car enthusiast and has taken great care to maintain
this vehicle; this car has not been abused or driven hard!
Mechanically, this Grand National is in very good condition. The
entire drivetrain is largely stock and original with the exception
of a few bolt on parts, including an upgraded transmission pan,
larger down pipe, Duttweiler intercooler, and a high performance
fuel regulator. The catalytic converter has also been removed (its
a dummy). We will note the air conditioning does not work, the
owner claims the vehicle needs a new compressor. The transmission
was fully rebuilt using all heavy-duty performance parts, and we
mean every part that was able to be upgraded was upgraded.
Cosmetically, the interior is completely stock and original. There
are a few very minor cracks in the dash, but overall the condition
of all interior pieces are very good. Accessories function
properly, the seats have maintained their shape, the roof liner
does not sag, and the vehicle is free of stains or smells. On the
exterior, the paint is overall excellent. Not factory new, but
extremely good. We did not find any dents, scratches, or blemishes
worth mentioning. If you're in the market for a Grand National,
you'll know most are either heavily modified, rebuilt, from out
east, or are priced ridiculously high. This Buick, however, has
none of those concerns and is priced competitively. This vehicle
