Exceptionally clean, only 61,068 actual miles, built in California.
Just purchased from a Buick collector along with 2 other GSs. Buick
entered the muscle car scene by offering a Gran Sport option on the
Skylark. They stuffed the biggest motor GM allowed in a little car!
Actually it was 1 cubic inch over the limit. GS also included a
boxed frame, heavy duty suspension, bigger wheels, bucket seats and
emblems.
EXTERIOR: Super clean original body. No rust or damage, I didn't
see a bubble or crack. Factory spotwelds still are visible around
the 1/4s. It is absolutely straight and the panels fit like a new
Mercedes. Only 1 time repaint. Factory two tone colors- arctic
white and regal black painted roof. All polished to a smooth glossy
finish. The jambs still have original paint are are amazingly
clean. The trim is also extremely nice. Bright red Gran Sport
emblems really pop. Upfront the hood ornament, emblems, bumper and
chrome grill are excellent. On each side the emblems, fender
louvers, remote mirror, door handles and even the chrome pillars by
the vent windows are excellent. All of the stainless trim around
the glass and roof is straight and shiny. Has original antenna. The
rear bumper and taillight panel has excellent chrome. I love the
taillight lense is almost the width of the car. The glass is very
clear, windshield has been replaced. Side windows fit like a new
car. The rubber seals are all soft. New 14 inch chrome GS wheels
with correct red center caps. Tires look new too.
INTERIOR: Very tidy and clean inside this car. It definitely
supports the low miles. I'm sitting in the car, cushions feel good.
I'm looking at a pristine original dash area. The plastic lenses,
chrome trim and knobs, dash pad, buttons on the original AM radio
all look pristine. Original steering wheel does not even have a
crack. In the glovebox, the original liner is excellent, the light
still works. Overhead the the original white headliner and visors
are excellent. The bucket seats were reupholstered, the rear seat
and door panels are excellent original. Chrome trim, handles and
cranks sparkle. Armrest pads show some age. Center console is in
excellent shape. Carpet is excellent. It has the Buick rubber floor
mats in very nice shape. Deluxe seat belts in front. Interior
lights work on the console, the headliner and under the dash.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Vin # matching Wildcat motor. The legendary 401
"nailhead" makes 325 hp and 445 lbs of torque. It has correct carb,
manifolds, valve covers etc. Rebuilt just 400 miles ago. New wiring
harness, Pertronix ignition and plug wires. Very neatly painted
motor, correct turquoise color. Engine bay is smooth metal painted
satin black finish. The bottom of the hood is painted, has hood
insulation. New power brake system, has power steering. New
radiator, water pump and heater core. Rebuilt alternater.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely solid trunk compartment. Tidy coat of
gray- white spatter paint. No patches, no rust whatsoever. Looking
up inside the quarter panels there's no splices, they appear to be
original. Bottom of the trunk lid is painted nice. Clean jambs with
clean factory seams and spot welds. The weatherstrip is soft. Has 2
piece rubber mat, jack and chrome rim for a spare (needs tire).
There are a few miscellaneous new parts and shop manuals
included.
UNDERSIDE: Has Hotchkis Sport Suspension package. Lowered 2 inches.
Includes upgraded springs, shocks, swaybars, upper and lower rear
control arms. Ball joints were replaced, 605 steering box. It is
also upgraded with with front disc brake conversion, has drilled
and slotted rotors. Bottom of the motor is clean. Starter, filter
and inspection cover look fresh. Original Super Turbine 300
automatic trans was rebuilt 400 miles ago. Drive shaft and u-joints
look fresh. Has dual exhaust system, mufflers and tailpipes are
recent. Very clean original metal floors, inner rockers and
1/4s.
This is a great car, really the more I looked at it the more I
appreciate it. Very difficult to find a car that has been as well
cared for as this car, especially muscle car. It rivals the 65 GTO
at half the price!
