Vehicle Description
1961 FORD ECONOLINE CUSTOM PICKUP C-779 Introduced in the fall of
1960 as a 1961 model, the Econoline was unlike any truck previously
offered by Ford. Mechanically based on Ford's compact Falcon line,
the flat nosed Econoline was a light duty work truck that featured
unibody construction and an engine located between and behind the
seats of a "mini cab-over" design. Originally built in November of
1960 by the Lorain, Ohio plant. From the factory, it came with a
Mint Green paint job and a 144ci inline six cylinder engine. It has
undergone quite the transformation into this beautiful custom you
see here today, with only 1,983 miles since the build! This
Econoline is now powered by a chromed out 1969 Ford Mustang 250ci
inline six cylinder engine, which interestingly enough, has it's
roots based on the 144ci engine, original to this vehicle. Ford
upgraded the 144ci to the 170ci and then to the 200ci and from that
came the 250ci. In 1969, Ford raised the 200's deck some 1.66
inches, using the same 3.68-inch bore, and stroked the taller block
to 3.91 inches to achieve 250 ci. What this meant for the little
six was big-six torque, with 240 lb-ft of twist at 1,600 rpm. The
250ci six was a nice Mustang option in 1969-1970 for those who
didn't want a V-8. The 250ci Mustang engine in this Econoline is
mated to a Ford C-4 Automatic transmission and equipped with power
brakes for easy driving. Copious amounts of body and paint work has
been completed by the previous owner, bringing this custom pickup
to the level of prestige you see now. Be sure to look at the photos
of the car before the project began. It now has a stellar,
eye-catching tri-tone exterior House of Kolor paint job of white,
orange and purple with pinstripes. The creme, tan and light brown
interior is a complete custom upholstery with Dynamat throughout.
Interior features include: Leather wrapped Budnik steering wheel,
billet aluminum foot pedals, and billet aluminum gauge cluster
surrounding the vintage Stewart Warner gauges. Other features
include: a Vintage Air system, a modern large display Pioneer
stereo encased in a custom upholstered console, and various other
billet aluminum touches. Sitting on Optima chrome wheels wrapped
with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires (P225/60R15 front and rear). The
custom Econoline comes with a clean California Title. If you want
to pull into the car show and get some attention, this is the ride
you are looking for. ***If you are viewing this on Facebook
