1979 Black Corvette L82 CoupeVey original with only 21k miles!Black
w/Black interior L82 350/225hp 4-spd. manual transmission.During
the 14 years the C3 or Shark bodied Corvette was produced there
were a number of body changes that took place. From '68-'72 were
the "chrome bumper" cars. The '73 was a transitional year which
incorporated the new urethane front bumper with the traditional
chrome rear bumper. By '74 the change-over to urethane bumpers
front and rear was complete. The '78 was the first year for the
"bubble" rear window which added much needed extra cargo space. And
that design with some minor changes to the bumpers and front
fenders carried on until the end of the model run in '82. Back in
'69 GM canceled Tuxedo Black as an exterior color for Corvette.
Technology hadn't yet caught up with the production methods '50's.
Thus quality control was spotty at best on America's Sports Car
which was mostly hand built (and hand painted) back then. And as
everyone knows Black highlights every flaw. So it was decided that
Black would no longer be offered on Corvette. That mandate was to
remain in effect until '77. As a result Black has always been one
of if not the rarest colors you could get! That is until '79 when
it was the least rarest color you could get! However that fact
hasn't diminished the color's desirability one bit over the
decades! The '78 and '79 Corvettes were virtually identical at
first glance but what sets the '79 apart is how many of them were
built. Production ended at 53807 units. The highest production of
any Corvette before or since! So it isn't often that we get in a
'79 that hasn't been driven way past the capabilities of its 5
digit odometer. Most that we see (and reject) are high-miles
beaters that would need considerable work before being considered
ready for sale. But every once in a while we run across an example
that doesn't fit into that category. Like the one being presented
here . . .If you were going to order a '79 brand new back in the
day this is probably the best combination of drivetrain options and
color you could get! This '79 came to us from a local So. CA.
owner. The car is in excellent condition throughout obviously Black
with Black interior and is loaded with all of the great options
including the optional L82 engine coupled to a rare M21 close ratio
4-spd. manual transmission! Please note: There is some pinhole size
bubbling on the tops of the front fenders.Other options include;Air
