1966 MERCEDES 230SL 4-SPEED W/FACTORY HARDTOP
This is a nicely-restored manual-transmission 230SL with great history; refinished in its original color, with significant documented recent mechanical work and in exceptional condition. Great paint over a straight, rust-free body, solid suspension, drivetrain and a very nice interior.
Often-overlooked fact: 230SLs have lower axle ratios than the 280s, and consequently there is hardly any performance difference between them—especially if the 230 is a manual 4-speed.
This classic Mercedes has been in dry Colorado many years and always under the care of one of the best local M-B specialists. Recent work included new clutch and all hydraulics, new exhaust system, axle boot, fuel lines, injection pump work and more.
It looks terrific in its original dark red finish accented with OEM ‘bottle-cap’ alloy wheels with new Michelins. It has new leather—not Tex—new convertible top, plus factory hardtop, spare, manual & tools. The engine bay is spectacularly clean and detailed, plus all the chrome and brightwork look as-new. As usual, the fender ‘notches’ are gone, but all the original spot welds are on the front fenders. Even the original Becker radio is in the dash, instead of a black plastic Japanese unit.
Pagodas are currently in a market slump, so here is a great opportunity to get a really nice one, that won’t need expensive additional work, at today’s attractive value level.
