1950 Ford Custom
Several years ago the last owner of the car dove in and completed a full on restoration of this custom.
The reportedly, original flathead V8 was rebuilt and period correct hop up parts were used including Offenhauser finned heads and high rise intake manifold, lakester header/exhaust manifolds (exiting out to a set of capped lake pipes and true duel exhaust) and Holley 4 bbl. Some modern performance items were added too such as a Flame Thrower coil and wires, 12 Volt electrical system and alternator, flex fan and stainless steel hoses. The odometer shows 58000 miles.
This runs out through a three speed manual transmission on the tree with an optional overdrive unit which is said to be operational.
The body of the car was stripped down and brand new floors were welded in place along with half quarter panels on each side. The headlights were frenched as was the power antenna. The door handles were shaved and are operated by a solenoid push-button remote control. The interior was completely reupholstered and when everything was set, she was sprayed in a yellow oxide primer/finish coat and some tasteful tan/brown pin-striping was applied by local CT artist Buggs.
The car runs and drives great, looks great, the flathead V8 sounds great and is great fun as a conversation starter.
The current owner traded a pick up truck for the car as the last owner unfortunately needed a truck and could no longer enjoy this custom and now the current owner is selling the car.
