Description:
This car is originally believed to have been ordered and sold new by Bill Rutland Chevrolet in Florence, South Carolina. It appears to have been in South Carolina its whole life.
The 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle factory SS 454 is just as formidable as it's counterpart from a year earlier, with updated sharper and sleeker styling. This beautiful example sports a 454C.I. V8 engine NOM under the hood paired to a strong Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear end, giving this stunning muscle machine plenty of power to smoke just about anything that dares to challenge it at a stoplight. Other features on this Chevelle include power front disc brakes, power steering, factory air conditioning, and the desirable U14 gauge package.
The exterior was an evolution of the much-loved 1970 design with a more squared-off front end with a change from quad headlamps with a bumper integrated turn signal to a single lamp on each side with a turn signal and side reflector combination. The rear was changed as well to a somewhat Corvette-like quad round taillight design with more chrome and a larger SS logo. The exterior on this Super Sport has been re-sprayed some years ago in bold Cranberry Red accented by black D88 sport stripes and the 5-spoke Cragar Chrome Special Sport wheels. The interior in covered in smooth black vinyl and features front bucket seats and a center console that houses the legendary ""Horseshoe"" shifter. This Chevelle looks to have been taken care of by its former owners; the bottom is clean, the pinch welds are good, and the steering rack & front suspension looks to have been recently rebuilt. Overall, this 1971 Chevelle FACTORY SS 454 would make an excellent classic muscle car that you could have fun and make memories with for years to come. Makes a perfect weekend driver.
