Editor’s note: One morning last week, those arriving early at the ClassicCars.com office heard a noise coming from the storage closet. Fearing, perhaps, a rodent or two, they unlocked the door and peeked inside. What they saw was an old fax machine — remember those? — that was spitting out the last of three pages. […]
In July 2019, my cancer returned after six years, which also caused me to retire from my law enforcement career of some 36 years. I then started a treatment plan and in October, on my birthday, I couldn’t even eat any cake my wife, Kate, had gotten. So I sat in the corner and just […]

If remembered at all, motorsports fans recall Sunday, August 13 1972 as the date Emerson Fittipaldi won the Austrian Grand Prix, and in doing so, all but clinched his first Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship. At the other end of the grid that day, a smaller kind of history was being made. A tiny, underfunded […]
It may seem an oxymoron to mention “high performance” and the Renault Dauphine in the same sentence, but the Pick of the Day is, indeed, the high-performance version of the little French classic, a 1967 Renault Dauphine Gordini. In fact, the dealer in Rockville, Maryland, advertising the car on ClassicCars.com claims this to be ‘the […]
When the National Corvette Museum re-opens for general admission in Bowling Green, Kentucky, one of the vehicles on display will be a 1977 Studebaker Avanti II. Say what? As the museum shares the story, it was in 1962 that Bernard “Mike” Hammer’s stepfather took him along when he was shopping for a new car. “He […]

Nothing says “muscle car” like an L48 350 V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor. The Pick of the Day is a 1972 Chevrolet Nova SS that’s described as “flat-out stunning” and “laser straight” by the dealership in Hamilton, Ohio, advertising the coupe on ClassicCars.com. Originally launched for the 1962 model year, the Nova (then called “Chevy […]
