For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

This is my second go-around with this great car.  I had sold it to a friend almost three years ago and he traded it back to me.  I was more than happy to get it back.  I feel this is a very special car and am more than proud to own it and offer it for sale.

My friend did not drive it much.  What he did do is give it great care.  It was detailed and polished, the heater core was replaced, and he had it professionally serviced each spring.  He offered it great storage and kept all the critical documents.

I actually traded to get it the first time.  The owner of a local GM dealership had it in his private collection.  He had traded for it and improved it during his three year ownership.  He is very particular and knowledgeable.

This car displays most of its original paint!  The Lemans Blue still looks incredible.  While at the Dealership, the bottoms of both fenders were repaired with patch panels and refinished to match.  The cracked plastic inner fenders were replaced, but with steel versions, as the plastic style was not available.  All belts, hoses, lines, brakes, battery, fluids and fuel sending unit were replaced.

During the removal of the gas tank to facilitate the sending unit replacement, the original build sheet was discovered.  It tells the whole story and displays all the critical information.  This is a true Super Sport that is very nicely equipped.  All components are original to the car.  The engine has been decked, but the casting numbers all indicate it is date-code correct.  We believe it to be the original engine.  The transmission and rear axle all display numbers that match the build sheet.

This is a 350HP-396 Super Sport with M21 Muncie 4 speed transmission.  The rear axle has Posi-traction and 3.73 gears.  The engine bay looks very correct.  The exhaust and intake manifolds are proper.  Even the original wheels wrapped with an old set of Firestone Wide Oval bias ply tires are with the car.  Great for show or display purposes!  There is a set of new radials on another set of 1969 date code Magnum 500 wheels, which are mounted on the car, that make for a much better driving experience.

This car was built at the Framingham, MA plant.  It was sold new by Sahli Motors, Inc. of Beaver Falls, PA.  We have copies of the PA titles and every reason to believe it was never titled out of PA until my friend bought the car three years ago.  The 1987 PA title indicated actual mileage of 41534.  Today the odometer reads 52317.  We believe the mileage to be actual mileage, however, due to age, the car is sold exempt from mileage disclosure, as stipulated by Federal Law.

This car is nicely equipped with courtesy lamps throughout, power brakes, the fronts are disc, and steering, push-button AM radio, Hurst shifter and bright moldings.  The black SS strips must be original to the car.

The black bucket seat interior is certainly original and it is still very nice.  There is a center console.  The headliner, visors and carpet have all held up extremely well.  Obviously original, not damaged or worn and certainly show worthy.

The body and underside of this car have survived the test of time for a couple of reasons.  First, it was under-coated a long-long time ago.  Perhaps when sold new.  There is a thick layer of undercoating beneath the car that is covered in grime.  There is not a speck of corrosion.  Second, I have to believe this car was not winter driven.  With the mileage being so low, you have to wonder if was ever even driven in the rain.

The trunk is amazing.  It contains the original jack, lug wrench and spare wheel/tire.  The original floor mat covers the factory applied spatter paint!  It is still extremely presentable and truly supports the care and low mileage of this car.

The original radio still works.  In fact, all features work properly with exception of the horns.  The headlamps are correct T-3 bulbs.  The doors lock via the key.

This is a great driver!  The engine is very strong and pulls hard.  The radial tires offer a great feel and grip of the road.

I am happy to have this great car back in inventory and available for sale.  If you are interested, please be prepared to assure me that you will give it great care and respect the originality.  They are only original once!
