Vehicle Description
This is a well-documented 1968 Pontiac Firebird 2-door Coupe
complete with its original, numbers-matching 350 V8 engine,
original automatic transmission, and rear end. Pontiac Historic
Services supplied detailed specifications for this specific
Firebird that provides hours of fascinating reading. But the
original window sticker and Owner's Package are here too. The
window sticker verifies that the engine and transmission are
factory options as is the power steering. Interestingly, each
option was ordered separately; there were no groups or packages.
Here's what was ordered on the Firebird. Push-button radio, dual
horns, right and left visor vanity mirrors, outside LH mirror with
remote control, custom seat belts and shoulder harnesses, deluxe
wheel discs (these have been upgraded to the Rally wheels), deluxe
steering wheel, console, electric clock, Soft-ray tinted
windshield, brake pedal trim package, F70x14 WSW tires, and heavy
duty air cleaner. The stock 2-barrel setup has been upgraded to a
Holley 4-barrel on an open air medium riser aluminum intake. The
new induction system adds to the looks as well as some extra power
and performance. You'll love the muscular sound too. The engine
compartment is finished off with chrome valve covers and air
cleaner. Air conditioning is also a welcome update/upgrade.
Staggered radials on 15-inch Pontiac Rally wheels bring some added
authority to the appearance. The paint is the original color
Springmist Green, which today we might call pewter, titanium, or
gray metallic. It's a subtle shade with a touch of modern richness
even though it's a classic color. Black bucket seats highlight the
interior along with a handome woodgrain console. Securely mounted
to the console are an Autogage tach and oil pressure and water temp
gauges by Stewart Warner. An upgraded AM/FM stereo unit in the
stock location plays the hits. Here's a car with an impressive
balance of performance and refinement, classic and modern in a
supremely driveable package with a big portion of street machine
attitude. This cool, sporty 1968 Pontiac Firebird Coupe is
