Kept Motors.) We know that unfortunately the Thunderbird went the
way of the Do-Do Bird in 2005, but the Thunderbird namesake badge
was worn by many great Ford sports cars over the years. This
awesome, highly original, low mileage Turbo Coupe is one of those
memorable Thunderbird sports cars of the past. The black paint on
the exterior is simply called Black (code 1C), no fancy factory
name here, just glossy black paint. The condition of the exterior
is impressive for an all original car like this TBird. Paint is
glossy, lights are in great condition, and the original 'snowflake'
wheels are in extremely good condition. Inside the car are a number
of great top of the line (at the time) features - supportive sport
seats with Lumbar support, boost gauge, graphic equalizer, power
windows, electronic climate control, suspension damping rate and
fuel grade selector, and one of our favorite features - 3 pedals. A
comfortable driving position, affords you a great view of the clear
gauges, and within arms reach of the 2 spoke steering wheel is a
shifter with a short throw, perfect for rowing through the gears.
The interior condition is in amazing original condition - from the
seats, trim, and carpeting this interior is very clean. The 2.3L
Turbocharged and Intercooled Inline-4 under the hood offered
approximately 190 horsepower, 240 lb/ft of torque. All that is made
possible with the Inline 4 by the snail found on the right side of
the engine bay and the 15 psi max boost it produces. Of note is
that as a manual transmission Thunderbird this car's Turbo gets
full boost in every gear, the automatic transmission cars had boost
restricted, so full boost wasn't possible in lower gears. The
drivetrain on this particular Thunderbird is unchanged, and shows
only 61k miles, which is just under 2k miles a year since this car
left the showroom. Someone had some strong willpower to only put
that many miles on this fun sports coupe. Many people forgot about
the capable Thunderbird Turbo coupes over the years. Nowdays turbos
are common on everything from high performance cars, to small
commuter cars, and SUV's. It seems that most cars sold today have a
turbo. Back in the late '80's a turbocharger strapped to an engine
was unique. The performance and power that the turbo coupe provided
was exceptional back in the day when this 9th Generation
Thunderbird was being produced. This black T-Bird has been well
cared for over the years - certainly garage kept - and is ready for
a new home. Low mileage examples like this one are hard to find,
don't miss this one before it flies the coop! VIN Decode: 1FA -
