For Sale: 1964 Volkswagen Beetle in Alpharetta, Georgia

Vehicle Description

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, TWO-TONE, AIR COOLED CLASSIC 1964 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE, BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED AND UPGRADED WITH FRESHLY BUILT 1641CC,  4-SPEED, LOWERED, 12V, AND MORE...READY TO SHOW AND GO!!

This attention getting, two tone classic 1964 VW Beetle received a beautiful restoration and is now ready for the next lucky owner to drive, show off, and enjoy!!  This was a life long Texas VW that was purchased by a gentleman about 3 years ago.  He had owned quite a few classic Beetles over the years and his daughter was getting close to driving age and was excited to have a classic VW Beetle as her first car.  He took his time restoring it and after about 2 1/2 years when it was completed his daughter decided she no longer wanted an older car...go figure.  They drove it to local shows and cruise ins and won best of show trophy at a VW show the week before I bought it from them.  The restoration was done to a very nice level but was not a pan-off restoration as it did not need it.  The motor had been upgraded by the owner before him to a nicely built 1641cc that pulls very nicely through all gears and is believed to have just under 7000 miles on it. These Classic VW Beetles are really starting to rise in value and getting lots of attention in the classic car market.  I will do my best to provide you with enough large images, a video of it starting and running and an honest description to help you decide if this is the classic Beetle for you. I am also a transport broker and can get you a great rate on transport anywhere in the country. I also welcome overseas buyers and can assist in getting the car to the port of your choice.

This was a pan on complete restoration and the paint and body are absolutely exceptional. I am not exactly sure what the color is called but it is very close to an original color called Sea Blue paired with Ivory along the doors. It is a super nice, period correct color and look. The color was a little tough to capture as it looks more blue in the pics in the bright sunshine then it actually is. I think the pics inside my showroom are closer to the true color.   I would call the body near flawless as I really did not notice any flaws to speak of and the paint quality is what I would call show quality which is a term I really do not use very often. Doors line up great and open and shut very well.   Chrome trim, emblems, all look great and the weather stripping was all replaced.  Brand new set of Triple Chrome plated front and rear bumpers with over-riders.  Body panel fit is excellent and the body is super straight from front to back. Cool set of German running boards look awesome. The Ivory colored 15" wheels are a beautiful accent to the 2-tone body. It also has a classic roof rack which you can dress up with some vintage luggage or a surf board t the shows for that cool California look. The rear windows pop out and function well.   If I had to pick a few minor items I would mention that there are some minor scratches in some of the original glass which all have the original VW emblems on them other than the windshield which has been replaced and looks great. The engine lid handle does not lock.  This Beetle has a nice stance with 2 1/2" drop spindles used to lower the front end. It catches all the eyes when it is on the road and is sure to win its share of trophies at the local shows and cruise-ins. I think the photo tour of the body will show you just how nice this '64 is.

The interior was also completely restored and finished in a light gray tweed and vinyl from Sewfine that looks fantastic. Seats look like new and are very comfortable. Everything inside was replaced including door panels, headliner, and carpeting. Original style Ivory steering wheel looks awesome with very minor hairline blemishes that are very typical. Speedometer is crystal clear and operates correctly as do the lights and turn signals. Fuel gauge works correctly.  Ivory knobs and accents along the dash look great. Shifter and e-brake also look like new and function correctly. Original radio does not work so about the only thing that the future owner might want to add is a stereo which could be mounted inside the glove box or under dash. If I had to pick the interior I would say that the headliner area below the rear window could have been done a little better but still looks just fine. Original style heater boxers that work and  heater is completely intact. The simplicity of these cars is really something to admire and this '64 really looks close to new inside.

While this '64 has the iconic classic styling it also has some great upgrades to the drivetrain that will make it an absolute blast to drive. Under the engine lid sits a freshly built 1641 cc that is mated to a freshly rebuilt 4-speed. I was told there is probably less than 7000 miles on the drivetrain. The 1641 cc puts out an estimated 80-90hp which is plenty of power to get this Beetle up to highway speed surprisingly quickly and you can cruise at 65 mph comfortably. The motor sounds like it has a slight cam over stock and a great tone from the dual tip exhaust.  It has an upgraded large capacity oil cooler, an upgraded deep sump oil pan, and upgraded hi flow external oil filter. You may have noticed that this '64 has a nice little stance as it was lowered slightly and sits on a really cool set of original styled 15" wheels adorned with VW badged baby moon chrome hub caps and wrapped in close to new set of Kumho 165/80/15 radials on all four corners. Empi 2 1/2" drop spindles used to lower the front end slightly for a nice stance. One wheel has a little bit of pitting but that is being picky.  This Beetle really handles the road beautifully. Stopping is a breeze thanks to the upgraded dual master cylinder all new drum brakes all around. You would swear it has disc brakes as it truly stops better than previous disc brake Beetles I have owned.  This '64 was upgraded to a 12V system, has electronic ignition and a red top Optima battery for easy starts. Like many of these cars it is a little cold natured but once warmed up it runs like a champ.  You will also notice that the engine Bay Area was nicely detailed and you will b proud to pop the engine lid at the  shows. This was a pan on restoration and the pan was super solid and did not need any repair. It was stripped down and lightly undercoated. Even the area under the battery tray was solid and the gentleman who did the restoration was really impressed when he removed the interior. He left the original sound deadening material that was still in place. Inside the front trunk also looks great. Overall this is a strong running classic Beetle that is ready to drive and enjoy.

Make sure you watch the video to see and hear this beauty start up and running!!

Overall this '64 Classic Beetle is an outstanding condition and has the classic look combined with some nice upgrades to improve the fun factor while driving it.  I am confident the next lucky owner is going to be thrilled when it arrives at his or her driveway and I am also a transport broker and can get you a great rate on Enclosed or open transport anywhere in the country. I also welcome overseas buyers and can assist in getting the car to the port of your choice.
