For Sale: 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 in Deep River, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie 500

This car was born in the Dallas, TX Ford plant and stayed in TX for a good portion of it's life. We know it was sold new from Giddings Motors in Giddings TX which isn't too far from Autin. It was not driven very much in that time or even up through present, as a believed, true 36000 miles is on the odo. The current owner is the 4th owner of the car. The car went from TX to Oklahoma and eventually here to CT where she was in the collection of someone in Guilford CT. That person sold it just a few years ago to the current owner.

Two oil change decals can be seen on the driver door frame and they show 26K in 1987 and 30K miles in 1991, only 4000 miles in 5 years. The newer one shows a Wilbert's Service station, which is still in operation in Giddings TX. So, we know this Fairlane stayed in it's hometown through at least 1991.

The hot Texas sun tried to work it's evil ways on the original Indian Turquoise and Colonial White paint, but only a few spots show minor fading. Based on overall condition, it is safe to say that this is a true, original survivor specimen. original engine, original paint and interior. This 500, officially coded as a Galaxie Club Sedan, has the 225HP 332 FE block V8 with a 2 bbl carb. The horses are funneled through a Ford-O-Matic 2 speed automatic transmission out to the 2.91:1 equipped rear axle... She'll cruise down the highway easily and will probably get you 25 mpg.

The cloth bench seat is in good shape with a couple of pulls and tears here and there but still presentable.. and original... The back seat is in very good condition. Matching fabrics are available if one wanted to freshen her up a bit. The interior sports an AM radio, air vents, electric clock (works intermittently), cigarette lighter, wipers... all the comforts of a standard auto of 1959. There is no power steering or power brakes and stopping is handled by 4 drums. However, despite the lack of modern day "technology", she is a dream to drive and moves along very nicely.

The body, frame and under body are solid with no signs of rot anywhere and only surface rust present in a few spots.

She'd be welcome at pretty much any car show or cruise night, although she won't be winning any concours awards, she'll get thumbs up at every corner.

Asking price is just $14,500

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to make an offer or to schedule a time to experience her in person, please don't hesitate to contact me.
