Vehicle Description
This 2000 Ford Saleen Mustang S281 delivers convertible appeal
mixed with the solid engineering from one the most respected
upgrade companies around. So when you can get your hands on a rare
extra-performance triple-black pony car for an affordable price
like this, you know you're looking at a terrific deal.
Mustangs are a great pony car, but the Saleen is a whole different
animal. The S281 package is unquestionably aggressive with a new
front fascia, lower rocker moldings, side scoops, a special rear
bumper, and a nicely integrated rear wing. And while the black roof
looks great in place, when you take it down, this one look
absolutely speedy with the roll bar and sleek hard tonneau cover.
It's a sinisterly dark package where the only bright spots are the
upgraded headlights, Saleen banner above the windshield, and the
optional 18-inch polished alloys. The black paint has a high degree
of originality. In fact, you even get the serial number under the
driver's side headlight. It's part of the Saleen tradition of
publically showing how much of an individual build these special
pony cars are. So while there is room in the budget if you want to
make improvements, we understand exactly why they kept it quite
original from Saleen.
Inside, this modern custom classic gives you all the convenience of
a loaded Mustang. There's a long list of features like cruise
control, power locks, keyless entry/alarm, power mirrors, dual
airbags, power steering, and factory AM/FM/cassette stereo with CD
player. The power windows and a power convertible top mean you
don't even have to leave the driver's seat to go from enclosed
comfort to a wind-in-your-hair experience. Best of all, you can do
that all through the summer and stay as cool as you look thanks to
ice-cold air conditioning. But this is a true driver's car at its
heart. That's why you get a leather bucket seat that power adjusts
to your ideal driving position. There's also Saleen special
white-faced gauges and an upgraded Hurst shifter. Plus, Steve
Saleen signed the dash of this car, and we even have the photo for
proof.
Ford's 4.6-liter V8 is a great modern power house. While this is
believed to be the original block, on a car like this you expect
some extra performance. So they upgrades this one to inhale deeper
with a BBK cold air intake, and it exhales powerfully with an
upgraded X-pipe dual exhaust. Plus, Saleens always excel is in the
handling department, and the S281 package got a comprehensive
Racecraft suspension upgrade that includes new springs, struts, and
a larger front sway bar. Combine this with four-wheel disc brakes
and Pirelli rubber to give it the kind of grip to rival far more
expensive exotics.
The sale comes complete with a Saleen reproduction window sticker,
and original components like the shifter, air intake, and exhaust
are also available. There's even a letter from Saleen certifying
that this is only 1 of 4 produced in this configuration! So you're
looking at a rare and desirable custom droptop that you know you
want in your garage. Call today!!!
