National first prize AACA winner 1993. Has photo album of the
complete ground up restoration. From the estate of a Mercury
collector. He has owned this and a Turnpike Cruiser for decades.
Both were well cared for. It has had only 5,000 miles since the
restoration.
EXTERIOR: Painted 27 years ago but I tell you what, it looks like
just rolled out of the paint shop. It is absolutely laser beam
straight and body gaps are right on. I've been around it a couple
times now I don't see any signs of rust, damage, cracking or
bubbles. It has really proven itself. The paint is still a glass
finish. Jambs are painted neatly, weatherstrips are soft. It also
looks like literally every piece of exterior chrome has been
replated. All the stainless has been straightened and polished. Has
a premium set of spotlights on each fender with mirrors and handles
inside the car. It is also dressed up rocker trim, stone shields,
fender skirts and a continental kit in back. Has the flipper style
hubcaps and radial white wall tires. White convertible power top is
in very nice shape.
INTERIOR: It was completely restored to factory specifications. Has
the correct upholstery with the gold piping. I love the Mercury
head interior light. Seat belts have been added. The dash area is
beautiful- steering wheel, instrument bezels, knobs are all
beautiful. Interior lights work, even in the glove box. There's an
owner's manual in there too.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Has original 312 motor with 4 barrel carb. Runs
smooth! It was completely restored to factory specifications.
Correct finishes, hose clamps and stickers. It features power
steering, power brakes and also has the glass washer fluid
bottle.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has a complete gray and white plaid liner
kit. Restored spare rim with a white wall tire for a spare.
Restored jack assembly. Well liner was replaced. Includes a soft
car cover.
UNDERSIDE: During restoration the front end was gone through-
springs, shocks, bushings, balljoints. Bottom of the motor and
automatic trans are clean. Has dual exhaust with cherry bomb
mufflers and correct tips in back. Fuel and brake systems were
restored. The floors are completely solid including the rockers and
braces. Frame is solid and smooth, painted black.
I think the 56 Mercury is a gorgeous car, full of style. This is an
older restoration that has proven itself. Recently serviced, it
functions really well.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
