1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collector Edition -Featuring a 350-cid V-8
engine with cross-fire fuel-injection, with a four-speed
Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission, it is reported that no
manual transmissions were offered for the 1982 model year, the
first time since 1955. Exclusive to the Collector Edition is the
code 59 Silver-Beige metallic paint with fading shadow treatment on
the hood, fenders and doors. The interior is code 592, Silver-Beige
leather, also unique to this edition. Equipment includes: air
conditioning, bronze tinted glass T-tops (with covers),
leather-wrapped steering wheel, distinctive emblems and finned
aluminum wheels. Power accessories include, power windows, seats,
door locks, steering and four-wheel disc brakes. The back window is
a frameless glass hatch (with defogger) that allowed easy access to
the cockpit storage area only available on the Collectors Edition.
This represents one of 6,759 that were manufactured. The 1982
Collector Edition Corvette had a base price of $22,537.59, the
first Corvette model with a base price in excess of $20,000, the
example offered here invoiced at around $24,249.59 (with inflation
that's around $62,489.28 in today's money!!). Additional options
included: 6-way power driver seat, Cruise, Power antenna, twin
remote sport mirrors. This car looks, runs and drives as if it
emerged from a time machine from 1982, TRULY! Only 11,729 original
miles!
