1967, Pontiacs sporty new Firebird may have shared its basic
architecture with Chevrolets Camaro, yet it featured distinctive,
upscale styling, set-back engine placement for better handling and
a wide array of available options. For the final model year of the
original Firebird generation in 1969, select styling updates
included a body-color Lexan nose and narrower front bumper. As
before, the Firebird 400 was the performance leader, packing the
330 HP RPO W66 V-8 engine as standard equipment.Accompanied by a
Pontiac Historical Services (PHS) document package confirming its
factory data, this 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible was very
well equipped with features and options including a 330 HP RPO W66
400 CI V-8 engine. Checking the W66 option box also included chrome
for the air cleaner, rocker covers and oil cap, plus dual exhaust,
a flexible cooling fan and more. Other factory options included a
Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission, pushbutton
radio with power antenna and 8-track stereo tape player, cruise
control, upgraded steering wheel, hood-mounted tachometer, console
and Rally gauge cluster, variable-ratio power steering, front disc
brakes, a power top, front-seat headrests and adjustable front and
rear shock absorbers. Following assembly, this very special
Firebird 400 convertible was shipped on November 29, 1968 and
delivered to Haley Pontiac, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia. As offered,
this highly optioned Firebird 400 Convertible benefits handsomely
from a total restoration, showcasing its impeccable black exterior
and black power top, over black upholstery. The powerful 400 V-8
engine was rebuilt approximately 15,000 miles ago and the
transmission has an approximate 1,000 miles of use since rebuilt.
Maintenance work includes a new brake booster and replacement of
the lower intake manifold gaskets. Well restored, presented and
highly equipped with PHS-documented factory options, this 1969
Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible rides on Rally II wheels mounting
a set of period style Redline tires that complete the 1960s look
and feel of this Firebird. Quite rare in todays market, it ticks
the boxes for a great classic muscle car purchase on so many
levels. Contact us for full details and get ready to add it to your
