For Sale: 1964 Studebaker Pickup in Deep River, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1964 Studebaker Champ Pick Up Truck

As Studebaker was reaching the end of it's run as an auto manufacturer, they were still hoping to compete in the truck market but didn't have the resources of the Big Three.

Looking to "modernize" from the M and R series trucks through the 50's, they created the Champ using the front clip from a Studebaker Lark car and by purchasing the rights to Dodge's fleetside bed, built the "Spaceside Champ Pick Up". Looks a little funky but that IS the charm.

This truck is a great driver. One that can easily be used as the weekend truck for running errands to the dump, hardware store and even shined up heading out to the Friday Night Cruise.

The truck is super solid, no rot and only the expected surface rust on the frame and floor boards underneath and the fairly standard bubbles on the top of the fenders.

The known history is that it was delivered brand new to Texas and stayed in that warm, dry climate for most of it's life. What is believed to be the third owner was in VT and the current, probable 4th owner, here in CT. He's owned it for just about a year and is selling because he realized that he bought it as sort of a testosterone based, impulse buy at Barret-Jackson and he isn't driving her as he thought he would.

She was recently tuned up and rec'd new brake lines to keep the 4 wheel drums stopping the truck with ease. There is nothing power on the truck.. Manual steering, manual drum brakes, 3 on the tree manual transmission, manual windows. It does have a very large, sliding rear window that REALLY helps with air movement through the cab and keeps the temps comfortable while moving.

The truck has 65,000 miles on it. The engine is a 170ci OHV, straight 6 that runs out through the aforementioned 3 speed trans, via a driveshaft the size of my leg to a Dana 44 rear end.

It was repainted at some point in its life in a green very close to the original Clover Green.

Simply a great driver that can be used a base for a full on restoration or just enjoyed as she is.. maybe dive in and do some detailing and bring her up a notch.

Turn key, ready to go. $9200

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to make an offer or to schedule a time to see her in person, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest.
