Vehicle Description
This 1978 International Scout II is a very very nice rig. It
underwent a frame-off restoration 3-4 years ago and it was totally
gone through at that time. According to the last owner it has
around 5,000 miles on it since being restored. He had it restored
for his daughter and she only drove it on nice days in the Spring
and Summer Months in Ohio. Unfortunately the restoration receipts
did not come with the Scout, but as you will see in the pictures it
is a beautiful truck. The body on this Scout is excellent. It is
very straight and solid. It was repainted when it was restored and
the paint still looks wonderful. We believe it was repainted in the
International Scout Factory Color of Glacier Blue. The paint is
really, really nice. There are no rust issues with this Scout and
the underside looks great as well. They powder coated the frame
when it was restored and put all new body bushings on too. The
interior was also restored and it is in great condition. The
factory seats were recovered and they added new carpet and
headliner. All of the gauges work as well as the lights, blinkers,
heat, horn, wipers etc.
Mechanically this Scout is very sound and ready to roll. It runs
and drives great with good power from the engine. The engine is the
345 V8 and it was rebuilt at the time of restoration. Again, there
are around 5,000 on this work. The engine starts very easy with no
smoke or red flags and it runs really nice. You can tell it was
rebuilt by looking at all of the new parts and it runs like a top.
The engine has a mild cam and they also added dual exhaust so it
sound great!! Transmission is the 727 Automatic with a Dana 20
Transfer Case. The tranny shifts great and the 4wd system works as
it should. Both Axles are DANA 44's with 3.45 Gears. It has Power
Front Disc Brakes in the front. The whole brake system was gone
through when restored. It also has Power Steering. This has a 2
Inch Spring Lift which was added when restored and it has the
Vintage Turbine Wheels with newer 33 Inch Tires. I have to mention
again how nice this Scout drives.
