Vehicle Description
1976 Buick Electra 225 Limited
The name Electra is a Greek baby name. In Greek the meaning of the
name Electra is: Sparkling. The fiery sun. Mythological daughter of
Agamemnon. In literature she was a central character in three Greek
tragedies.
Hold your hats because here we have an all original 1976 Electra
225 with a mere 16,412 original miles. Spending most of its life in
a garage of its one and only owner, it comes with all its original
paperwork, is highly optioned, and runs like a Swiss watch. Oh, and
also it LOOKS original with barely a mark on it!
Exterior
Mount Vernon Cream paint in excellent shiny condition shows like it
just drove off the dealership floor. Bumpers have their guards at
the ready, and cornering lights have been installed. The side
panels, straight and true with factory gaps, have coach stripes on
them for just a little body bling. Exterior matching side sport
mirrors, and a pristine complimentary tan vinyl roof complete with
opera windows on either side, covers the hardtop. The filler panels
have been replaced, a common issue on cars of this era. This car is
definitely large and in charge.
Interior
With Buckskin colored velour on the front 60/40 bench, complete
with diamond pleats and button tufts (AKA Geneva Cloth) and vinyl
smooth bolsters on the bottoms. The same can be said for the rear
bench, all in perfectly preserved condition with no fading, or
staining. Gold carpet covers the floor surfaces and it appears new.
Flanked by the 60/40 is a large comfortable armrest in buckskin
vinyl, and this is in the back too. The large doors with some
buttoned velour, stainless, and a lower brown carpeted panel, have
power windows, power mirrors, power locks, 2-way power seats,
climate control with A/C, and a telescoping and tilting steering
column. The dash is extremely clean with all the bright colors on
the gas consumption gauge, and climate control levers. It is topped
with padded vinyl no cracks or marks and fronted with wood veneer
like it was just skinned from the tree! A note the trunk it has the
carpet option seen in black, and nary a mark on it, like never been
used condition...Dy-no-mite!
Drivetrain
A lift of the long hood and we are greeted with an original engine
bay with the original engine, showing some surface rust, and patina
on plastic parts, but very nicely preserved. A great 455ci V8 with
a gaggle of wires and hoses, tubes and emissions gadgets attached.
A 4-barrel carburetor is atop, and bolted on back is a TH400
3-speed automatic transmission. Can you dig it?
Undercarriage
Save for the expected surface rust on bare steel parts, the
underside is very clean with some rustproofing spray, but otherwise
original from the factory, with no structural issues anywhere. To
the max baby!
Once in a great while we come upon a car that is too good to be
true, but it is true, to the max. This car is absolutely mid 1970's
slammin, and that's no Jive talkin. Wired for luxury, all the
options it's spiffy. So, are we cool, Man? Come over to Classic
Auto Mall and have a look at this all original Detroit Piece of
Iron. Catch you on the flip side!
