Not a museum example but a very beautiful and solid driver that
runs well, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs nothing.
This car is on consignment with us by the current owner who
purchased last year for my wife's 50th birthday. Unfortunately it
turns out she does not enjoy driving a classic car so her
automotive preferences provide a great opportunity for someone who
appreciates the classic style and attributes of the 280SL. The car
was restored in the late 1980's by the owner of It's Alive
Automotive which was until last year retained in his personal
collection and used very infrequently. That restoration included

rebuilt Transmission rebuilt Front suspension rebuilt All brakes
replaced Exhaust replaced Tires replaced New hub caps New
windshield New headlight bucket surrounds New carpet and leather
interior (from GAHH) Prior to its sale last year to the current
owner, a new soft top (also from GAHH) of the correct material was
installed. Due to the car's infrequent use since restoration, the
current owner invested over $20,000 in a thorough servicing and
recommissioning to bring all maintenance up to date and complete
several age wear minor repairs. Receipts for this work are
available. The engine starts instantly, with the cold start fast
idle system operating as designed and runs very well. It
accelerates smoothly and feels strong. The transmission shifts
smoothly. All accessories are functioning as designed. The car has
no known rust, and the color combination of navy blue on biscuit is
beautiful. Paintwork, while very good overall shows some minor
chipping from use (professionally touched up), but no cracking or
bubbling. No dents, body panels and chrome work are straight and in
very good condition. Seats, carpet (correct German square weave)
and dashboard are all in excellent condition. The installed radio
is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD with hands free and blue tooth. Climate
control system works as designed. Tires are new. This car comes
with two tops. Hard top is light blue and in fair condition with
some staining on the headliner and a small dent on the exterior.
Convertible canvas top is royal blue and in good working condition.
Odometer currently shows 19,650. The clear title lists mileage as
