Vehicle Description
1982 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
The Corvette name is synonymous with sleek styling, smooth
handling, and the raw power of an American-built sports car. Anyone
who finds themselves behind the wheel of one of these beautiful
rides is surely a lucky - and affluent - driver. This Corvette
brand is one of their biggest money-makers and serves as a great
creative outlet for their engineering team. With sports cars like
Corvettes, there are far fewer limits on mechanical and aesthetic
decisions involving cost or design. This is especially important
for their Corvette Racing division - they keep Chevrolet's hold
tight on the global racing market.
For consignment a numbers matching, mostly original paint,
consigner stated original miles, original smoked glass "T" tops and
a snappy acceleration and we have a nicely presenting Corvette from
1982.
Exterior
Bathed in the original paint of Silver Blue, there are two areas
where there has been a respray on the driver's door which is
slightly off in color due to someone backing into it, and it needed
to be repaired. The same holds true for the urethane bumpers in
front and back which were not hit but also repainted and are
slightly off. Nice clear and clean smoked glass "T" top panels can
be removed for some fresh air driving. Sleek lines abound as do
curves which are accented by pin striping. Flared fenders and wheel
wells, a vent in the front quarter, and a small rear spoiler which
frames the still rounded rear complete with round taillights. A
greenhouse style rear curve around glass gloves this car a fastback
look, and provides plenty of extra interior light, and a storage
area behind the buckets in front. 15" shiny wheels are wrapped with
Cooper Radial GT tires with raised white lettering.
Interior
Nicely padded deep Blue leather door panels have a lower carpeted
panel power window toggle and a storage pouch. Seats show some
wear, but are nicely overstuffed, have great lumbar support, and
show some folds on the smooth surfaces. A center console races
forward, and houses a storage bin, E brake lever, and shifter. The
centrally located rise to the dash houses a quintuplet of gauges
and an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio. In front of the driver a
rectangular design instrument panel has the tachometer,
speedometer, and a trio of warning lights. A/C is in and has been
converted to 134A but is currently inoperable. Blue carpet floods
the floors and storage area, and is nicely preserved, but does have
some fading and minimal staining. Overall the interior is nicely
presenting and clean.
Drivetrain
A numbers matching 350ci V8 with crossfire fuel injection that is
now being provided by a DCS Renegade aftermarket crossfire intake
manifold which has larger ports sits atop. A 700R4 4-speed
automatic is on back of the mill.
Undercarriage
Nicely cared for with slight surface rust, and a minor repair to
the floor pan due to a driveshaft strap failure. Independent coil
springs in front and for the rear fully independent half shafts,
lateral struts, and transverse leaf springs. Power disc brakes are
all around and the exhaust is clean and rust free.
Drive-Ability
This car was a quick starter, and smooth runner. It has good
acceleration and handling. The A/C is inoperable but has been
converted to 134A. The cruise control is inoperable, and the speedo
needle bounces at low speed, however mileage clocks and trip odo
can be reset. A good driver though.
A well documented 3 owner car in nice condition, a good runner, and
a rail like handler. Beautiful body design and looking fab all
over!
