Number 1, this car runs and functions amazingly well. Guys in the
shop are beyond impressed, I've heard them say it multiple times.
The car was just driven here from Florida! It is completely
restored to look stock but has been updated with more modern
mechanics. They kept it in the family by using AMC components.
EXTERIOR: Professionally restored to show quality and looks
completely stock 1948. The only upgrade is the big whitewalls are
radial tires. Clean straight body. The paint is smooth and glossy.
Overall the chrome and trim is straight and shiny. Looks like the
glass was replaced, tinted. Weatherstrips were replaced.
INTERIOR: Also restored and kept very close to original looking. It
has a few nice upgrades- AMC steering wheel, custom gauges and
tachometer that look vintage, neatly installed a/c controls and
vents. Has modern stereo with speakers hidden behind perforated
holes in the upholstery. Also has seat belts. Upholstery is
completely replaced on seats and door panels in a correct looking
ribcord fabric. Carpet was remade and looks original with bound
edges. The pull straps and welting was replaced. The faux painted
woodgrain was beautifully redone. A removable console was made and
upholstered to match. Headliner a d visors were redone, has some
wrinkles. New wiring.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Updated with an AMC 401, the biggest motor they
ever offered. Rebuilt, has polished Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel
carb with electric choke. Other upgrades under the hood include
alternator, power steering and brakes, modern heat and air
conditioning system and even cruise control! The motor runs cool
thanks to an upgraded aluminum radiator. This car starts instantly,
even cold.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Restored like original with vintage liner and
carpeted floor. Has spare tire. Battery was relocated to the trunk,
its secured in a box.
UNDERSIDE: Upgraded with rack & pinion power steering. Has new
shocks front and back. Has custom sway bar in back and lowering
blocks. Upgraded brake system with disc in front. Bottom of the
motor is spotless, starter looks new. Has 727 Torqueflite auto
trans. 12 bolt rear end from a Javelin. Custom fuel tank. Dual
exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. The floors, rockers and
frame are solid.
Has the original vintage 1948 looks but meant to be enjoyed with
it's upgrades. Much improved reliability, safety and comfort. Drive
it anywhere, heck it just made 1,400 trip!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
