Vehicle Description
Despite being best-known for their classic good looks and pure
American swagger, 1930s Fords were the hot rod of choice for many a
young gearhead who had a thirst for power and a need for speed.
Today, spectacular blue oval resto-mods are much more common than
their decades-built stature would lead you to believe. That means,
to really turn heads, enthusiasts need unique cars that are
exceptionally well-done. A fitting example would be this impressive
3-window. Mixing a hot rodded small block with substantial
drivetrain upgrades and a comfortable custom interior, this
well-built Ford is a heck of a lot more fun than a
restored-to-original car. And if you're looking for a great
combination of timeless style and modern performance, it's a choice
classic that simply can't be beat!
BRILLIANT AESTHETICS
This awesome Ford's smooth and solid body began life as high
quality Ronson fiberglass that was carefully sculpted into some of
the coolest automotive curves to ever leave Dearborn, Michigan.
During a detailed build that's seen casual enjoyment since its
completion, that rugged resin was layered in a cool combination of
green and silver 2-stage. At the front of that pigment, a glass
shell centers a billet grille between a steel hood, amber parking
lamps and stainless-trimmed headlights. Those casings reflect
stylish louvers, which follow slick glass running boards through
shaved suicide doors. Above those doors, a short greenhouse hangs a
small wiper between polished mirrors. And behind that glass, a
shaved trunk shades a billet fuel filler between polished tailpipes
and stainless-trimmed tear drop tail lamps.
PROVEN POWER
Great looks are only part of this roadster's appeal: it also does a
very good job of going really fast and making lots of awesome
noise! Check the car's billet-trimmed engine bay and you'll find a
350 cubic inch Chevrolet small block that churns big power into
ample torque. At the top of that hearty mill, a trick Edelbrock air
cleaner funnels wind into a bright Edelbrock carburetor, which is
seated on a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. That intake
feeds aluminum heads, which balance a polished Edelbrock cap on
polished Edelbrock valve covers. At the back of those covers, a hot
ProComp distributor sparks loomed Taylor wires, which slink around
coated block hugger headers. At the front of those tubes, billet
pulleys spin a polished alternator opposite a polished AC
compressor. And at the front of those ancillaries, a beefy Walker
radiator makes excellent use of a big puller fan.
EXCELLENT CRUISING
Every good street rod has a solid foundation. Flip this Ford upside
down and you'll find a roster of mechanical improvements that mix
classic looks with modern mobility. A trusted 700R4 4-speed spins a
requisite Ford 9-inch that's finished with mild, 2.73 gears. That
smooth drivetrain pushes a thoroughly massaged chassis, which
follows tubular control arms with two Viking coil-overs and two
QA-1 coil-overs. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion
steering. Stops are provided by four power-assisted discs. There's
a throaty exhaust system that makes excellent use of bold Magnaflow
mufflers. And everything rides Billet Specialties blades, which
turn 195/60R15 Toyo Extensa A/S in front of 225/70R15 Toyo Extensa
A/S.
COOL COMFORT
Pop the doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that's warm
and welcoming. Modern bucket seats surf rich carpet while a small
console stacks chrome power window switches behind a long Lokar
shifter. In front of those seats, a billet-trimmed dash lights
Omega Kustom instrumentation beside Vintage Air climate control.
The driver strolls the boulevard through a polished Lecarra
steering wheel, which spins a leather-wrapped rim around a
polished, tilting column. And the beats keep bumpin' thanks to a
roof-mounted Sony head unit and roof-mounted Kicker speakers.
Sure, there are a lot of '30s Fords on the market. But how many
have been massaged to this level of drivability and appeal? Mixing
a high-quality build with impressive power, custom upholstery and
spectacular aesthetics, this coupe is the kind of car that recruits
fans wherever it goes! If you're looking for an exceptionally nice
cruiser that's twice as much fun and twice as reliable as an
all-original roller, you're looking at your next classic!
