  • Fascinating history in the U.S. Northeast; single ownership for 66 years
  • Beautifully restored with vintage rallies and touring in mind
  • Competed in the 2016 Gran Premio Nuvolari
  • Highly eligible for vintage events, including Le Mans Classic and the Mille Miglia

In 1949 this Chrysler Series 75 Roadster was purchased by Richard Roy from a dealership near Newton, New Jersey. It was formerly the property of a Dr Buringer, who had previously used it to haul rocks out of his garden, and Roy, seventeen years old at the time, paid the princely sum of $25 for this car, his first. Roy returned the car to running order, painted it metallic green, and proceeded to drive the car everywhere.

Roy later became a successful businessman and a fervent car collector, yet never sold his Chrysler, lovingly nicknamed 'Blossom', and it remained with him until his passing. It was sold to the current owner via RM Sotheby's in October of 2015. At the time, it was largely unchanged from Mr Roy's heyday, still wearing its 1950s-era paint, red vinyl interior, original wooden wheels, and even Roy's Lehigh University parking tags on its front bumper.

Upon its purchase, the Chrysler was shipped to Europe and fully restored at a reported cost of $100,000 with vintage rallies and touring in mind. Following the restoration, the car competed in the 2016 Grand Premio Nuvolari, and it remains highly eligible for similar events, including Le Mans Classic and the Mille Miglia.

To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa20.
