By the late '50s Jaguar was at its height, having conquered Le Mans
in 1951, 1953, 1955, 1956, and 1957. With European rivals like
Porsche beginning to catch up, in 1959 the XK150S was launched as a
roadster aimed squarely at the American market. At its heart was a
race-bred engine featuring a straight-port cylinder head. This was
matched to a competition clutch and lightened flywheel. The result
was a car with a top speed of 218 km/h. Disc brakes were also
fitted.
This fabulous example left the Browns Lane factory in March 1959
finished in Carmen Red with a matching red leather interior and
fawn soft top, fitted with manual overdrive. It was destined for
Frank Cavey's dealership in Dublin and sold new the following
month. Cavey had a close working relationship with Sir William
Lyons assembling cars in Ireland�his factory's XK120 achieved 3rd
at the 1951 Monte Carlo rally. The first owner was J Goodman of
Dundalk. Today the car retains its original engine and bodywork and
has been restored to a gorgeous colour scheme of dark blue over
beige leather. Presented in wonderful condition, it would surely be
a thrill to drive and enjoy.

A la fin des ann�es 50, Jaguar �tait au plus haut de sa gloire
apr�s ses victoires aux 24 Heures du Mans en 1951, 1953, 1955, 1956
et 1957. Avec la mont�e en puissance de concurrentes europ�ennes
comme Porsche, la XK150 S a �t� lanc�e en 1959 comme un roadster
destin� sp�cifiquement au march� am�ricain. Elle �tait �quip�e d'un
moteur rac� comportant une culasse � deux arbres � cames en t�te et
reli� � un embrayage comp�tition et un volant moteur all�g�. Il en
r�sultait une voiture capable d'atteindre 218 km/h et, pour
l'arr�ter, des freins � disque faisaient partie de
l'�quipement.
Ce fabuleux exemplaire a quitt� l'usine de Browns Lane en mars
1959, de teinte "Carmen Red" avec une sellerie assortie en cuir
rouge et une capote fauve. Elle �tait �quip�e d'un overdrive.
Livr�e au garage Frank Cavey, repr�sentant de la marque � Dublin,
elle a �t� vendue neuve le mois suivant � son premier propri�taire,
J. Goodman, de Dundalk. Cavey entretenait avec Sir William Lyons
une relation �troite et assemblait des voitures en Irlande ; sa
Jaguar XK120 d'usine avait termin� troisi�me au Rallye de Monte
Carlo 1951.
Aujourd'hui, la voiture est encore �quip�e de son moteur d'origine
et a �t� restaur�e dans un magnifique th�me de couleurs bleu fonc�
avec cuir beige. Dans un �tat superbe, cette voiture sera
