Restored 1964 Sport Fury convertible with period correct 426 Max wedge
Mopar historian Galen Govier believes only a few Max Wedge convertibles where produced and only one survives,
this is not that car. This is an extensive tribute that you can afford.
Project started 20 years ago with a California car.
Original floor and trunk pans, new quarter panels.
Lazer strait body with gorgeous Black paint by Ty Baumgartner Motorsports.
New Black Power convertible top.
Stunning red interior featuring bucket seats and factory console.
Gauges rebuilt and clock restored with quarts action.
Max wedge heads , intake, carbs and exhaust manifolds came from a 1963 Engine and have all been rebuilt.
The engine block used to create this rare piece is a 1971 440 V8 from a roadrunner.
Bored .0030 and fitted with TRW forged pistons 9.1 compression, Mopar performance solid lift cam with
Crane solid lift rockers and lifters mounted on a hard chrome Mopar support shaft.
Steel crankshaft turned 10-10, 440 6-pack rods resized & reconditioned all balanced and blue printed.
Pete Jackson gear drive, HP chrome balancer, high volume oil pump.
New designed Indy rear main oil seal.
Engine finished in Max Wedge orange paint.
Transmission is an aluminum 727 automatic, rebuilt with all high performance parts, custom throttle body, shift kit,
2300 stall converter.
All new suspension components, new brakes, disc on front, drums on rear.
the rear axle is a 8.75 with 3:55 gears and limited slip carrier all rebuilt.
New heavy duty 426 rated rear springs with Cal-Trac traction bars.
New driveshaft.
Power steering.
New 3” exhaust repro Max Wedge system is exactly like factory with cut outs and cross over.
New fuel tank, stainless fuel and brake lines,
All chrome and stainless has been replaced or polished.
All new weatherstripping and rubbers.
Custom polished 15” wheels with BFG radials with custom redlines cut into them for that “Day 2” show car look.
All lights, wipers, horns, gauges work correctly.
Power top works nice.
Tuned and runs strong.
This was a 20 year labor of love, completed late in 2019.
Owner invested over 70k and endless hours unfortunate health issues caused the sale of this spectacular car.
