1972 DeTomaso Pantera (Restomod)
This was Fords mid engined super car of the day(1971-74). Being the road going mid engined, Italian designed super car to follow up the race winning GT40, that was available to the masses. This car has had every system and component updated to modern parts and performance. The car now sports a brand new crate 5.0 coyote and performance pak, that has been tuned to perfection and sports custom stainless headers and full exhaust. Powered through a McLeod multi friction clutch to the original ZF transaxle. The trans is connected via a custom Quiktime bellhousing and it has been completely rebuilt and updated to the latest 5th gear overdrive. It makes cruising 75-90 mph effortless and comfortable, not to mention with all the power and low revs it is very fuel efficient. The power is then transmitted out a pair of custom CV driveshafts for reliable smooth operation. They easily handle all this coyote can throw at them. Next is custom upper and modified lower control arms to correct wheel in wheel well position and provide perfect rear suspension geometry. On out to custom one-off 3 piece wheels by ESR wheels 18 in front and 19 in rear. They are wrapped in continental Extreme contact sport rubber. Stopping is no problem for the monster Wilwood calipers and 1.25” vented rotors. Applied by Wilwood master cylinder. The entire car is custom wired with American Autowire highway system and sports updated halogen projector headlights and headlight door opening system. The power windows are one touch up and down driven by new modern power window motors. The guages are custom one-off speed hut units and are GPS driven. And the Push button start system is also security backed up. The two-toned Scottish leather interior is climate controlled via all new vintage air system and a blue tooth JL audio sound system. Parking brake is electric push button and all custom. All of the interior is silenced by Dyna mat for a quiet cool ride. The trans is fitted with a custom cable shifter from SAAC performance who also supplied the power mirrors. The windows are tinted to add privacy and assist interior cooling. Precise steering is because of modified upper control arms and feature adjustable caster and camber (with camber lock outs) The steering is ultra precise and has guided this car safetly to high speeds. A Lecarra steering wheel and quick release hub guide you safely down the road and add convenience entering and leaving the car. An Optima battery powers all the electrical and is nestled in the front trunk area that is carpeted and trimmed out. Cooling is via custom stainless water lines and a 4 row custom radiator from Pantera Performance. Excellent original rust free body. Body was striped to bare metal and seams and gaps perfected and painted in Ford Performance white. Custom Pantera graphics added to sides and the bottom of the body is ultra straight/clean/ and detailed. The body is uncut and presents as original with correct taillights and exterior stainless trim which has been polished to a bright shine. The fuel tank is original and cleaned to perfection and sealed.the car is fueled via a custom exterior race fuel cap. The fuel pump is Bosch powered and Areoquip hosed as is the -12 oil lines and the custom System 1 oil filtering system, The Mobil one oil is circulated through a custom aluminum Steffs oil pan. The engine bay has been smoothed and looks as nice as the exterior. Sporting a custom suspension truss to ad rigidity to the chassis and hidden wiring and A/c lines. This car is runs great and rides fantastic on the custom Eibach springs and Koni adjustable shocks. This car is absolutely no disappointments and can be driven anywhere. Loads of power never gets hot, and offers a surprisingly quiet ride. The car was custom built for a client and has 300 or so test miles on it.
