compliments from all who see her!The name 'Brooklands' has been
synomynous with Bentley since its beginnings and its name refers to
the legendary racetrack in Weybridge, England which just happened
to be the worlds first known purpose built motor racing circuit and
in later years one of England's first airfields and Britain's
largest aircraft manufacturing center. It opened in 1907 with a
formal inauguration of 43 cars including one driven by the renown
Charles Rolls and over the years held 24 hour events and was the
venue for numerous automobile world race and distance records and
in its heyday could host up to 287,000 spectators for its legendary
races. It hosted its last race in 1939 and today is a major
aviation and motoring museum and venue for classic car and
motorcycle events. The Indianaplois Motor Speedway drew inspiration
from Brooklands and was built soon afterwards holding its inaugural
race in 1909.The Bentley Brooklands was introduced in 1992 as a
luxurious replacement for the Mulsanne and Bentley Eight models
with a 6.75 litre Rolls Royce V8 engine and with prices starting at
around $156K (over $235K today) and which lasted until 1997 when it
was replaced by the Bentley Arnage (1998-2009) when for the first
time since the 1950's the 6.75L Rolls Royce/Bentley engine was
replaced with a BMW 4.4L twin turbo V8 engine. In 2008 the
Brooklands name was again revived for the fixed head Hardtop Coupe
version of the Bentley Azure as a successor to the now discontinued
Bentley Continental R amp; T Coupes. This particular example was
recently acquired from its most recent southern California owner
who meticulously maintained the car at renown local Santa Monica
independent Rolls Royce amp; Bentley specialists and will be sold
with all its original owners manuals, tools and dealer service
booklet.Finished in its original and most highly striking of color
combinations with striking chrome badging and wheels and in
absolutely outstanding condition with the original and magnificent
Black Leather interior and burled walnut woodwork in absolutely
beautiful condition throughout. All the power options and electric
windows are working as they should and the air conditioning system
blows cold air! This obviously always extraordinarily well
maintained and always garaged car runs extremely strong and these
cars are not slow - the engine purrs like a kitten, never stalls or
idles rough and is extremely reliable - there is plenty of power to
pull away at the lights and it cruises at high speeds with absolute
ease. The transmission shift is almost imperceptibly smooth and the
temperature always remains cool.Without a doubt you will look long
and hard to find a more striking Bentley! This is one of the last
in the original line of cars hand built in the legendary Rolls
Royce/Bentley Crewe factory with a quality and craftsmanship that
far surpasses that of today's mass produced models with many BMW
parts. Finished in this stunning and classic color combination,
this is indeed a rare opportunity to own a piece of classic
automotive history, from a time when Rolls Royce/Bentley was truly
building the world's finest automobiles - a great investment for
the Bentley enthusiast or collector or simply an outstandingly
striking example of a very rare and unusual Bentley for the
discerning luxury classic car owner!
